HIV...just because you don't hear about it in the press doesn't mean it went away. Hiv came here how to begin with ? Travel....the one thing we are not limiting. Apparently you do though because government works slowly when it wants to....and they want to right now. All the college degreed people in higher positions fail the test of duty and common sense. Even the president himself stated Ebola was the biggest threat to national security right now. If that's true, then again....he's failing to protect the American public which is his 1st priority, or should be anyway for any president.

I just wonder how big of an outbreak do we need, how many will have to die, before the obvious happens, if at all ? How many kids will have to die from the respiratory virus coming across the southern border before we stop our open border policies ?

So I would suspect that a "monetary value" will now be placed on Ted Duncan's life as I am sure some lawyer will take up a malpractice suit for the hospital mis diagnosing Ted's condition and now we will all pay... True....which lends itself also to their definition of "airborne". If any one of those officers come back positive, the implications of how this spreads will be devastating. Imagine all the things/people a police officer comes into contact with. Then what....quarantine a whole police department ? Trace back everyone they had contact with ? This is how diseases spread and how important it is to not allow a killer like this one here in the first place.

Heard a lady on the radio yesterday from Dallas, talking about how her kids have to get vaccinated to attend school. Yet the illegals they bused in don't have to see a doctor or get shots in order to start school. Nobody with half a brain see's a problem with that ?

It's my opinion of course, but what Firestone did, with the resources available to them, isn't that what we should expect from the CDC or government in general ? The CDC was applauding what Firestone did, a business was doing what the CDC could not...control/contain/educate, and most importantly protect it's workers.

I'm also reminded of the UN...W.H.O., who have gobbs of money for this exact thing yet they always seem to hold back in tackling world problems waiting for Americans to cough up...or the Europeans.

I am not going to get in a pissing contest but this virus has been around for at least 30 years. It is not airborne and patients are only contagious when they have symptoms. We are not a third world country,we have top notch hospitals with infection control measures. The affected countries in Africa have non existent healthcare.

Yes we do have top notch hospitals....full of people that make normal human errors. When it comes to deadly diseases, you always err on the side of extreme caution taking every measure to insure the safety of the general public. Every measure.....not some.

Can you honestly say we have taken every measure, done all we can ? The only reason Ebola is here is because we allowed it to come, same with other viruses coming across the south.

Contain and control is the most important part, which we have to do in Africa. Is all being done on that front ? Why contain and control after it comes here ? do it over there. If your allowing travel from infected countries, then you are NOT containing or controlling by the very definition of the words.

Any vaccine gives people hope. Notice though, the trials are in Mali, not here. That's reassuring at least.

Two points. First, a vaccine is not a cure. It helps to prevent catching it. Second, lets's keep our fingers crossed, but so far no one else with exposure to Duncan is showing symptoms with 9 days left in the exposure window.

Well, that's out the window Fox, as today a HC worker taking care of Duncan has tested positive.

On another front, a doctor taking care of Ebola patients re-enters the U.S. at Miami with no questions asked, no tests. But....they have it under control. Just because you say you do doesn't make it so.

3 weeks has been established as the norm, not the extreme ends. It can take up to 7 weeks in some cases.

You miss the point as usual. It's not so much a numbers game, it's that this person had been protected by the appropriate suit. So either the suit failed, human error was involved, or this virus is assuming an airborne role not previously thought to happen.

If the suit failed, then obviously all others are also at risk. If human error, then that needs to be explored to see exactly where. If airborne, that's another can of worms.

The Enterovirus on another note, has killed 6 kids already with no apparent vaccine or cure, yet we hear zip in the MSM.

This is all our own doing.....consequences of our own actions, or inactions depending on how you look at it.

She cared for Ted Duncan and used all protective gear correctly. The CDC guy says well she must have made a mistake somewhere... they don't know what that mistake was, but that's their story...

Time to stop the BS and quarantine everyone who has been even casually exposed and stop anyone from leaving any of the infected nations from even going to an airport....

All of the information coming out of the govt. is politically slanted gambling with the safety of the American people running up to an election. We have seen this bad movie before...

Show that you can reduce/eliminate the number of cases occurring and then review the measures.

They waited to release the information so they could whittle up a story... The real answer is they are not sure but need to make up a story that downplays actual fact that they don't know. This CDC guy needs to be fired and and a no BS person needs to put in charge. There should be no input from politicians on the correct course of action. They are only interested in the short term optics.
