I am skeptical that they can contain Ebola in Liberia and Sierra Leone where there is still cannibalism and people eat jungle meat. There are accounts of Rebel soldiers of who will often drink the blood and or eat the organs of a child that was sacrificed to make them brave in battle.

I guess they should expand the questionnaire to also ask:

Have you come in contact with:

    1. Anyone with ebola
    2. Anyone who has eaten human flesh or organs
    3. Anyone who has eaten or processed Jungle Meat or street animals.

There are plenty of documentaries for someone who wants to learn more about the horrific way of life in these countries. Billions of dollars of aid go to these countries every year that end up in the pockets of criminals and politicians (they are one in the same).

We can pump all the aid, doctors, facilities, equipment and science we want into the situation but if the conditions that allow ebola to literally run through the streets and food supply as well as the sex trade, the effort will be wasted and the impact will be superficial.

Nah, it isn't political. Anything that goes against the grain of open borders or a continuous flow of illegal immigrants is staunchly fought.

They also keep saying restricted air travel will hurt the situation, not help. Reasoning is aid would not be able to get in. Call me crazy, but you can make exceptions for aid workers, you just have to quarantine them coming back.

If they wanted to, they'd figure out a way, but it doesn't fit the narrative so excuses are made as to why they won't. I just find the thought of throwing your hands up and saying nothing we can do further is simply absurd.

Watch the documentary "Vice Guide to Liberia" on youtube IF you have a strong stomach. Like I said previously it is a very hard look at what is going on there. This is a information that you won't get from any news agency. After watching it I The living conditions in that country are a calamity. The country is a cesspool in complete chaos and controlling ebola will be extremely difficult if not impossible.

True, and this goes back to some of my earlier thoughts that sanitary conditions and clean water is essential to curbing diseases. Yet with all the billions of aid poured into Africa, these 2 essential elements have yet to be addressed.

Now, you can say leave them alone, keep your nose out of where it doesn't belong, and in some cases that may be true. Except when it starts affecting everyone else. So either these mini dictators need to be wiped out, or these smaller countries need to be taken over. That way investment can happen, free of fear of the mini dictators, so that a normal working society can evolve.

You just as well stop all air travel. Polio is running amok in parts of the mideast,
TB from all over. Add to it all the religious groups here in the US refusing
ANY vaccine and you have all you need to have a big outbreak of the classics.
We have already had a TB outbreak in a radical grass roots church.

Of course that has nothing to do with the thousands of unvaccinated illegals being shuffled around the country. Address the problem is all I'm saying instead of applying a Band-Aid every so often.

NYC had rampant disease issues until they got a system of sewage management and clean water.

Billions have been sent to African nations and little of that money has made it's way to helping the population.

Financial aid should always have conditions attached to it that will shut off the aid if results aren't produced.

We don't receive any food products from Liberia, but imagine if a disease like ebola was to spread to another country where we do. We get a lot of seafood from other countries and if that was to be tainted you could say well get don't import or use it but that could have a huge impact on the food supply and a ripple effect on the the world economy.

Yes, the people bloating this thread with their concerns/thoughts on the issue of Ebola is just downright disconcerting.
It takes away from my concentrating on the Pharmaceutical Industry's efforts to increase their profit margins which, of course, need increasing. Especially in view of the recent meeting between China and India. You know, the meeting(s) to develop agreements to tell "our" Pharmaceutical Industry to go pack sand, that they are going to manufacture and develop affordable medicines for underdeveloped countries.
The gall of these countries !! They have actually passed legislation to prevent "our" Pharmaceutical Industries from bribing their medical industries to NOT produce effective drugs when those drugs come off of the 15-year patent protection list.
And I'm not speaking of the Claritin/Claritin-D slight of hand : "New Claritin-D is now formulated to deal with indoor AND outdoor allergens like pet dander !!!!"."
Don't the Chinese and Indians realize how much marketing effort that Schering-Plough went to to promote Claritin-D when Claritin's patent protection was nearing its end-of-life !!
Not to mention the basic research they had to go through to figure out which SINGLE MOLECULE to change in Claritin to make it Claritin-D withOUT changing its effectiveness or real properties ! Sure, for every $1 spent on research they spent $19 on marketing, but that's only because they HAD to ! Yes, they HAD to in order to convince the unwashed masses to continue to use their 'product'. The unwashed masses who have the audacity to ask questions like, "Uhm .... say, I was wondering ..... how comes you all haven't developed a vaccine or vaccines for nasty stuff like ebola ?".
See what I mean ? What idiots ! Of course they have !

Links to the above info can be found at "www.beforeitsnews.com". Sure, that's a just-about-full-blown tin foil hat website but like digging for gold, you're going to have to do a little digging and filtering.
Sure, I could have given a link for a more "legitimate" site (WHO, CDC, etc), but I didn't. Why ? 2 reasons:
    1. I'm being ornery (nice way of saying "I'm being an a$$hole").
    2. Stressing the importance of considering ALL sources, no matter how "TIN FOIL".

Didn't mean to derail the thread. I have to get back to reviewing my portfolio and examining the liquidity of my assets (dang, that sounds dirty !). I think that 3.657842% of my pension is invested in the Pharmaceutical Industries and I have to figure out how much China and India's impudence may possibly affect my retirement. Probably something like $8.42 a month !!! Dam your gawds, China and India !!!

Good point....most would say "Oh no...not here". Or ship some unvaccinated kids to your corner school. See, if you knew ahead of time it may draw some concern from people, that's why the locations are being kept quiet. No Sir, it isn't political at all.

You also have to remember Government does do one thing well, it employs thousands of people across all branches for the simple purpose of spin. How to spin even the worse scenario so that it's palatable to most. Add to that a MSM that gets it's marching orders from the same place and truth is somewhat lost in all the press conferences and reports. Good old George Carlin said it best, "I believe zero of what government tells me"....and how can you anyway, given their track record.

Mr. BBL is getting paid by the word, except he gets more per word than me and that's B.S. If only I can convince the powers at be to spread the wealth of words and even the playing field. Eh....whats the point anyway, I'll let the next generation worry about it. lol

It all costs money. And people die from a lack of it every day.
Given how things are going, this is going to become a million dollar
boondogle. Life is cheap. That's a fact that is being driven home
every day. And this guy doesn't deserve one dollar.

There is a big difference between HIV and Ebola, especially in how it is transmitted. Granted, when HIV was first encountered there was a fear of the unknown. However, with Ebola we know a lot, and know how it is transmitted. That knowledge of Ebola is what is disconcerting to many. Especially when you add in the fact that the longer this goes on then the greater the odds it can mutate into an airborne infection. There already are cases in Africa where individuals with no apparent contact with Ebola patients are contracting the disease.

Case reported in Spain of a nurse's assistant who was treating a patient who contracted it in Africa...

Have to agree with CNH about putting a monetary value on life....even though that's exactly what a national HC system does. Yet you don't hear squat about that.

HIV...just because you don't hear about it in the press doesn't mean it went away. Hiv came here how to begin with ? Travel....the one thing we are not limiting. Ebola has a more unique ability to mutate making it a harder disease to conquer. Maybe not airborne yet, but you can still get it from a sneeze, cough, which are fine particles of body fluids. To me, that's darn close to airborne.

So if money should not be the issue, if politics isn't the issue,. then close the border and restrict air travel. You need to be a rocket scientist to figure that out ?

Apparently you do though because government works slowly when it wants to....and they want to right now. All the college degreed people in higher positions fail the test of duty and common sense. Even the president himself stated Ebola was the biggest threat to national security right now. If that's true, then again....he's failing to protect the American public which is his 1st priority, or should be anyway for any president.

I just wonder how big of an outbreak do we need, how many will have to die, before the obvious happens, if at all ? How many kids will have to die from the respiratory virus coming across the southern border before we stop our open border policies ?

Want to call that overblown ? Fear mongering ? Go ahead...but like some of you suggests, what price are you willing to pay if any to save lives ? Should there even be a price for a human life ? I know my answer, whats yours ?

We also have the nurse in Spain.....and her dog which authorities want to put down but are facing an outcry from the community. Seriously ? Your going to risk Ebola over a dog ? It's not the planet that's effed up, it's the people.

A week ago, they said airport screenings wasn't feasible, now we see they are initiating screenings at 5 airports....but only for temperature. A person can still be fine and a week later show signs. Whats that going to do ? Also Ebola is now known to last 70 days in ****. That's over 2 months for those who failed math.

It's said that the cost of cleaning up after the one guy in Texas, his apartment/disposal of fluids/clothes/ vomit...etc will cost well over 100 g's. That's for one person mind you and doesn't include the medical care costs and the other possible risks of exposure.
