Lots of good information on this topic here recently. IMO I utilize the thought of "hope for the best, PREPARE for the worst. I am not trying to cause panic or worry, only thinking and planning. I live in the midwest, we have tornado's. I have prepared for the worst and will hope for the best. Granted, a tornado 2 miles wide will wipe out everything I own above ground but I have still taken steps to deal with the unthinkable.
I realize this is a scary virus that you don't see it coming like dark storm clouds.

However, I had a checkup appointment today with my Doctor, we discussed this thing, he said "educate yourself, DON'T PANIC, make some preparations and just be smart like you do for tornado season.

Also, I'm interested in hearing the whole story from the Texas hospital, which I don't think we have yet. If this patient did not tell them he worked with and had physical contact with Ebola patients, there ought to be grounds for criminal charges.

I can agree with all of this but I am skeptical about the extent the regime will go to to obfuscate/delay the truth (lose hard drives, not turn over documents in a timely lawful manner etc.)

So which is it then ? Incompetency or on purpose ?

I'm not suggesting a conspiracy theory, only incompetence to such a degree that everyones well being is in jeopardy. This degree has never been seen before in such size and scope and at such a high level.

I can also agree sh$t happens, no matter what you do, but that's not the case here. We have a situation, with prior knowledge over a period of time with no actions of any consequence happening. A potentially very dangerous situation at that. The failure is convincing the people actions are being taken to protect them. Speeches won't do it, actions speak louder than words and so far I only hear words...no actions.

BTW...you don't have to work with, or have contact with others with Ebola to catch it. As soon as this guy told the Hospital he traveled from Liberia, that's all they needed to know to quarantine him.

So if I was writing this screenplay, we are about a week away from somebody hopping a fence surrounding a certain gov't building. He/she goes thru the front door and hemorrhages and vomits while losing control of of his/her bladder and bowels after refusing to leave until they are offered a healthy lunch. After consuming the healthy lunch the victim miraculously recovers and is used by the CDC to develop a cure and a vaccine. School children will then understand the need to eat there brussels sprouts at school, test scores will improve and the world will be a better place for letting the infection into the US to start with.

I'm old, kids are in 30's.
That Hospital is 20 miles away and "out of network".
So I couldn't use that hospital anyway. But Dallas area hospitals
have had TB and other nasties that have followed immigration.
So there's a lot more than ebola to worry about. Start with
west nile virus and work your way up. At this point, I don't think
their ER is anything to worry about. They have already had their
panic attack and double cleaned everything. At this point, the next
case may come walking in at any hospital in the area.

and....don't talk to beautiful women in bars. Like we want to talk to them anyway. Their brain is already proven to be mush....could be from Ebola. May have a strain that only affects Blondes.

So I am watching the TX Ebola news conference and they have a family quarantined in their apartment. They are delivering food and treating them well while observing them. Are they going to isolate their toilets and drains to prevent a potential contamination path to the environment? Couldn't anything that comes in contact with their sewage potentially spread the disease too?

I also ask the question... Do we have enough quarantine isolation facilities to deal with hundreds or thousands of potentially infected to protect the rest of us?

    I think no.

I thought about that as well. What prevents this disease hitting the water system as a new distribution mechanism? I'm no doctor, but it seems plausible. I'm sure we'll find out in the next 3-6 weeks if a large breakout occurs in Dallas.

Why we don't shut down travel from these countries is beyond me as so many have expressed. How about if you want to travel to/from these countries you get put in isolation on the way back for 21 days before you are medically cleared for release. That alone might make people think about travelling to these places.

Oh stop now...using common sense isn't allowed these days. Add holding in quarantine for 3 weeks at the southern border and you'll have Eric Holder up your butt for civil rights violations, profiling, and any thing else he can drum up.

Didn't Israel have some sort of germs called Hamas a few months ago and the regime shut down travel to there? I am so confused....were we worried about someone bring Hamas home? I am sure glad none of this is political and that we make the right decisions for the right reasons.

That was over fear of a missile hitting a commercial jet. Yeah, even if it did...300 lives maybe lost versus thousands by an Ebola epidemic. Even Harvard math doesn't work out too well.

For the life of me i cannot imagine a scenario where even bureaucratic sycophants could think that playing fast and loose with EBOLA would be beneficial other than to funnel funding to their agencies for their own gain. I wonder where they learned that from?

I just noticed I started this thread on August 2nd, two months ago. I wonder what the next two months will bring. Is the genie out of the bottle, or will we have a decent Thanksgiving and Xmas?

Nah....the Genie isn't out of the bottle....and that's the whole point, to keep it in the bottle.

I realize we like to jump to extremes....doomsday preppers ? Hardly...but voicing concern, pointing out incompetence in dealing with that Genie hopefully will help in keeping it in that bottle because once it's out, it's out baby.

Americans have very short memories. They only wish to wake up one day and say " How did this happen ? " Never paying attention along the way to the things that contribute to make it happen. So we wind up always dealing with problems after the fact instead of trying to prevent them from happening in the first place.

A message from a drug addicted, alcoholic schizophrenic. Might as well get my news from Rush.

So tell me, how many of the 35 people they told to go home developed Ebola? How many others got it from them?

You tell me William, your precious main stream media seems to pick and choose carefully what to cover and what not to. Which goes along with some peoples position that if it isn't in the MSM, it doesn't exist.

....and if you want to call out peoples past mistakes, you seem reluctant to call out the Presidents, or are you picking and choosing carefully like the MSM ?

My main stream media? I can't stand the media, they do the same thing you are doing here. Fear mongering. You give conservatives that can actually think for themselves a bad name.

And I'm not an Obama fan, never voted for him, and don't support most of his ideas. But I don't blame him for all of the world's problems either.

From 1976 through the end of 2013, 1716 cases of Ebola were reported. But from January 2014 through August 26th 2014, 3069 cases were reported.
If you take the prior reported cases and divide them to get a yearly average, then you get roughly 46 cases reported per year (some years vastly higher, some vastly lower). Now if the trend of this year continues, you will have roughly 4600 cases reported in this year alone.

The fact remains that this single year has produced nearly twice as many cases of the virus than in every other year since it's discovery combined.

And that doesn't concern some of you?
Clearly, some folks need their bubble to pop before they pull their heads out and show some concern.

As for @chumlie‌ comparing this to car accidents, ha55xu.jpg

I get my news from the Dallas morning news, BBC, and AlJazeera.
I get to skip all the airheaded nonsense.
As far as I can tell, enterovirus is the 600 pound gorilla
