Just checking out BMDP's next record........Return to Forever- "Romantic Warrior" Chick Corea, Al DiMeola, Stanley Clarke and Lenny White..man what a group, every member at the top of his form. Back when "fusion/rock" was fresh and these guys were cutting edge.

Just scored front stage tickets for Stanley Clarke tonight. Performance is in Feb. Same venue we saw Al. Sat close enough you could reach out and touch him. I'm stoked.

Just drug in from Shemika Copeland. Talented lady, mix was unbearably loud for the room. It'll take me two days to be able to enjoy listening to ANYTHING. :(

Levon Helm Band - Midnight Ramble Sessions Vol. 2
    http://levonhelm.com/store/product1.html

Borrowed this CD and DVD set from my brother-in-law.

Steamy set of blues and funky old-school soul/R&B recorded live with an audience in Levon Helm's Woodstock, NY studio. The CD has been in regular rotation since I got it, but haven't watched the DVD yet. It has a great live vibe and is captured superbly, as are all recordings from this studio.

Guest musicians include Johnnie Johnson, Jimmy Vivino, Dr. John, Sean Costello, and others.

It's playing in my basement right now, and I'm upstairs on the computer. Gotta go and get my groove on.

Big Mama Thornton - With the Muddy Waters Blues Band 1966
    1966, Arhoolie 1032, LP

The second blues album I ever purchased (new, the year of release), it's withstood the march of time. Willie Mae was the finest female to ever sing the blues.

Norah Jones-Live In New Orleans in 2.0

I love this DVD. Not only is the sound incredible, but she is so young at this point in her early career. You can see some of the akwardness in her gestures and facial expressions. She seems uneasy when she's speaking in between songs, but when the music starts she really is incredible. It's nice to see a bit of realism rather than the polished professional on stage, makes her seem more human.

This is stunning on the Lsi's. I can actually hear the bass strings and guitar strings being plucked and when he uses the slide I can actually hear the strings resonate against the metal slide piece. It's very slight as he rests/stops the slide piece to change positions. Can't say I've ever heard it that clear before.

    Audioslave - Out of Exile
    2005, Interscope/Epic - B0004603-01, (2)LP

Power chords with techno trips to space, rock solid backbeat and bottom, with ****-kicking vocals and intellect! Take musical talent, obvious influences, and leave the listener on the edge of their seat--wondering where the obvious will ultimately take them. You just experienced Audioslave!

    Papa John Creach - Filthy
    1972, Grunt - FTR 1009, LP

This one is an original purchase from '72 and one of my 1000+ spins albums for sure. I just kissed the cover on the VPI 16.5. It cleaned this road weary album up beyond expectation or belief. Cover is so obscure on the net that I had to photograph mine. Good stuff!

Jimmy Buffett - Take the Weather With You

    B000I0QK7E.01._AA240_SCLZZZZZZZ_V40269518_.jpg

After a brief foray with the country crowd he is back to his old self. And this is a good thing. As much as I like the music itself, the songwriting is what he does best. You may think it is all about "Let's get drunk and screw" stuff, but he has a great writing and storytelling ability that is obvious in his songs.

    Lynyrd Skynyrd - Second Helping
    1974, MCA - LP

Side 2 just grabs my ****, start to finish. Yeah, "Sweet Home Alabama" starts Side 1, but the flip side was what made me a fan. The VPI 16.5 just got another smootch!

Well now, they call me the breeze................
