its a must see. I saw him 9/6. he plays old Floyd and entire dark side of moon.
he connects with his audience, great sound tight band.

The dvd Roger waters In The Flesh is great also.

Gilmour Pink Floyd shows are good too but he does not seem to enjoy himself playing much as Roger does.

Grand Funk - We're An American Band

This is a 2002 Capital Records remastered CD that I found at the now-defunk Tower Records in Schaumburg IL. Excellent sound quality and remastering! The bonus tracks are also really nice, with an awesome acoustic version of "Stop Looking Back". The back of the CD says all tracks are 24 bit digitally remastered. Someone did a nice job on this one! Highly recommended.

Storyville - Piece Of Your Soul

    B000002JAE.01._AA240_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg

Tour2ma and I discussed this album while down at Troy's. Former SRV's Double Trouble bassist Tommy Shannon and drummer Chris Layton got together with three other Texas bluesmen to form this group down in Austin (after a time in Arc Angels). I happened to see it in the used CD store for $1.45. Definitely a no-brainer. A little different from SRV and Arc Angels but still very good music. Texas Blues for sure!

Just received four CD's I bought from Target online with remaining gift cards. Ordered them easily enough on Thursday night, got here today. Not too bad, in my opinion. However, I didn't know Target was associated with Amazon.

Anyhoo, here's what I got...and so what I'm listening to...
    ec7b07a2.jpg
Bought the CD for 'The King of Wishful Thinking'. Great song, and I think I'll probably like most of the other songs.

    ec7b07be.jpg
Didn't know it was a 2CD set, so that's pretty cool. Lots of songs, lots of good ones. I'll enjoy listening to this one, for sure.

    ec7b078e.jpg
Lots of good songs on here. I would have bought it just for 'Don't Stop Believin'. Or for 'Faithfully'. 'Faithfully' is definitely my favorite, though. The only down side is, it's a soft case. Oh well.

    ec7b0770.jpg
It's Mark Knopfler. Can it be anything but fantastic? Decided on this one because it's the only Mark Knopfler CD Target sells that I don't have. I wanted 'Neck & Neck', as I hear it's really good. Hopefully it won't be long before I can add it to my collection.

    Tea Party- Transmission

I've heard of them but never actually heard them until now. This album is cross between NIN and Queensryche. Pretty good stuff, I will get more from them soon.

Swirling out of the Canadian north, the Tea Party swoops down on you like a blizzard, and Transmission sounds like it's at the center of the storm. Sounding a lot like the Nine Inch Nails of the north, the Tea Party pulses and grooves along with such cuts as "Temptation," "Army Ants" and the title tune. This trio manages to come up with just enough hooks to keep the listening interesting without sacrificing their sound. Full of hard rock thrust with industrial edge, give Transmission by the Tea Party a try. You just might come away with a new respect for those snowy days.

Alan Parsons Project - Eye In the Sky (vinyl)

    B000002VC3.01._AA240_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg

Listening to I Robot on Troy's vinyl rig got me wnting to hear some Alan Parson on mine. The instumental intro "Sirus" is just awesome. "Mammagamma" is another instumental that I like a lot. A very nice album and typical Alan Parsons Project fare. That in an of itself should be a good endorsement.

    Charlie Byrd - Bluebyrd
LP, Concord - Charlie Byrd (guitar); Joe Byrd (vocals, bass); Wayne Phillips (drums). Recorded at Coast Recorders, San Francisco, California in August 1978. Includes liner notes by Gordon Raddue.

One of his best albums for Concord. Charlie was a true master at fusing classical influences with jazz/blues. Also available on CD.

Led Zeppelin- Snow Jobs-Live Soundboard 3-19-75 PNE Coliseum Vancouver, Canada.

Another of the greatest string of 1975 concerts. The energetic and adamant R-n-R and the powerful Sick Again are definetly proof the band is on, especially Page.

Kashmir is impeccable, full of arabesque wizardry at the end. The No Quarter piano solo is a pure pleasure to listen to despite the protests from the audience.

Page again exceeds himself in Dazed & Confused w/an almost classical extension of the unaccompanied prelude to the "Woodstock" section. You can hear some gasping from the audience as the final section of the piece reaches the most dramatic points of the evening in sheer exhultation

The most unusual parts of the concert are the encores; Whole Lotta Love's funky section leads to the theramin battle w/o The Crunge and, at the end, Page leads straight into Heartbreaker (no Black Dog) surprising everybody including the group. The unaccompanied solo is quite unusual, constantly beset by distorted ffedback; you can almost feel the physical effort & the contorted, decadent charm that Page exudes. One of the most extended vesions of this tour.

Page is shining again as the tour comes to and end. One of the best shows from 1975.

It's available on the underground, but good luck finding it at a decent price if at all. It's a bootleg release put out by a Japanese company called Empress Valley (EV). I've been into collecting and trading live Zep recordings for about 20 years and have over 350 shows of various quality. Here's a great link that keeps up with all the new releases and rates the quality and source of the material.

    http://uuweb.led-zeppelin.us/

However, this is not a site to purchase them. It's a facinating read but I warn you you'll want to hunt down some of the shows after reading about them.

    Have fun

"Refugee", "Here Comes My Girl", "Don't Do Me Like That", "Even The Losers"...Sure, its all "Classic Rock" station fodder now...but it IS one of the must have R&R albums for your collection and it is still good music.

Walter Trout (and Friends) - Full Circle

Hands down the best electric blues album I've heard in years. Walter erases the line in the dirt between blues "purists" and blues rockers. The opening cut, featuring John Mayall on keys and vocals, finds Walter at the top of his game in a Cm guitar solo that will leave you slack jawed...and, the album just stays at that level throughout.

    Like blues? Get this.

Joe Bonamassa - You and Me
Premier Artists/The Blues Foundation 60282, CD

Rock/blues at its finest from a guy who exudes a love for playing. Joe's been at it since age 4, professionally since age 12, and in his mid-20's is hitting his stride. Kenny Wayne Shepherd wishes he could play (and sing) like this. ;)

Produced by Kevin Shirley (Led Zeppelin, The Black Crowes, Aerosmith, Joe Satriani). 'Nuff said.
