    Liz Phair - Somebody's Miracle

    B000AV2G2O.01._AA240_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg

I really like the music. Her voice is taking a while to get used to. I think it is growing on me. This is my first foray into her music. I understand this album is more "pop" than some of her earlier work which was condisidered "indie-rock" and very angry and edgy. I never cared for that genre so this version of Liz Phair may be more to my liking.

Great Stuff Mike . . . .did you ever see Alice Cooper in concert? I saw him four times back in the late 70s. Each time he was executed in concert. Once beheaded guillotine, next hung, next firing squad, next drawn & quartered. Despite the goryness his musical performances in each concert was wonderful.

TOO funny!!! no, i've never seen him in concert..i lived in the deetroit area around twenty years ago. he was always doing something crazy. nugent too

    Ska Cubano: Ay Caramba!

Heard an interview about this on NPR's Weekend Sunday a month or so back. Just had to get it , even though I've never bought anything in this style. Described as pan-Carribean and retro. Wacky & lots of fun!

    Cheers, Jim

Chock full of the finest guest artists in the genre. Of all Jimmy's works, I find this one the most completely enjoyable.

I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Awesome

Pick up the new Decemberists' record, The Crane Wife tonight as well. Also, did you get Okonoros from MMJ yet? There's going to be a DVD with it as well at the end of the month. It's AMAZING!

That's a negatory on Okonoros, but I can't wait. I forgot to tell you the wife ordered GYBE Lift Your Skinny Fists, and it has yet to arrive.... so I'm still awaiting that.

As for what I'm listening to right now...

    The Coral Invisible Invasion

What can I say.... I love dark carnival, pirate chanteys.

Plus, I need to pick up Electric Six Switzerland...

This hobby is expensive enough without actually having to buy music to listen to....:D

I wish I enjoyed test tones

Speaking of MMJ, did you catch One Big Holiday playing during the pre-game show spotlighting the Chargers? Kind of interesting....

When they were playing smaller clubs and venues supporting At Dawn and Tennesse Fire... they always opened with this song. It was great because outside of bootlegs, it was the only way to hear it. I always associate it with the beginnings of a great show... so much energy. Now they tend to play it closer to the end of a set.

    Don't mind me, just rambling....

They had one of their songs in a beer commercial a while back, too. I forgot which one. I'm seeing them in the middle of November for the 2nd time this year.

BTW -- get the damn live CD. It's crazy good quality. Aside from the cheering you'll forget you're listening to a live CD.

    Okay, you got...

Beck - The Information (Crazy good deal BTW)
Decemberists - The Crane Wife (I would reccomned Castaways & Cutouts, and ...Her Majest The Decemberists! as well)
    My Morning Jacket - Okonokos

I don't know if you ever liked Sunny Day Real Estate/The Fire Theft, but I think Jeremy Enigk's new CD comes out on the 12th, and it's amazing. Other than that I can't think of anything else right now. That ought to hold you over for a while. ;)
