Breaking a post is pretty hard to do by pushing in. You'd have to apply a good
amount of side force to break it. I tried to break some cheap generic
post i have here laying loose. Unless they were very brittle, it didn't happen
by pushing IN, just up or down HARD."The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbour to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg." --Thomas Jefferson -
My guess is he tightened down the post with the Beenanner plugged in sideways, cracked the casting, then broke it off when it was a bit tight on the push in. JM .02
Just think...A trip to Radio Shack and install time would account for about 1/2 the time wasted on this thread.
1CToo much **** to list.... -

Thats all I did
The emotiva forum has banned me already
I never said anything to bash the brand and just kept to the facts and they banned me for not loving the brand
Perhaps villock can post a link to the thread here to show everyone as he was participating in the thread with his fanboy comments -

Why do you have to guess when i posted what happened ? I pushed the banana in and it just crumbled right off .Sure I pushed it in but it just snapped .Look at the pic on the other thread and you would see the connector broken with no signs of stress -
And who are you and why do you need to piss on PFB?
Just cause you drink the Emo KoolAid doesn't mean you have the right to put someone else's personal business on here.
Me? I am nobody just a member like you. He made it my business
when he posted this garbage on the only 2 forums that I frequent
I guess this behavior is OK in your world. And because I own and like Emotiva equipment I am drinking the koolaid?....... JB Weld to your rescue as a temp fix. Don't over do the bonding.
Or replace a set of binding post by a local technician for less than $60 bucks shipping fee.
Write off the loss as a learning experience and never buy any cheap junk amps again.
These Chinese made binding posts can be snappy due to the low tensile strength and lousy quality brass. Never ever over tighten them.
When using binding posts, SPADE connector is KING.
Good Luck with your fix!Trying out Different Audio Cables is a Religious Affair. You don't discuss it with anyone.:biggrin: -

Then its your testimony that you never once put the banana in the binding post sideways like the other one in the pic? And didn't tighten it down when it wasn't there?
If your referring to the one of the positive post on the counter. The photo is too grainy to see the actual surface of the casting. That photo says nothing as to direction of force for breakage or preexisting flaws. Take my word for it on this one...if I had that post under a scope I could tell you what angle it broke at and approximately how much force was applied. How long its been exposed to oxygen...the type of handcream you use ....Too much **** to list.... -
the potential additional cost of supporting an actual audio brick&mortar retailer doesn't sound like such a bad deal, eh?write off the loss as a learning experience and never buy any cheap junk amps again.

I work on the assumption that it most likely a good value for the money.
Given my experience on head-fi , I tend to doubt a lot of giant killer talk.
What the push back is about is just that. I don't think it's junk.
But top shelf, most likely not. You have an amp that works good for HT
and does a pretty good job with 2 channel. Nothing to be ashamed about.
I do not care about any brand of gear to get all worked up about it.
Who cares. It's just an opinion on the internet. You like yours, fine.
He doesn't. FINE. Do they make you guys swear loyalty and sign it in blood or
something? It so easy to get the EVO guys feathers ruffled. CHILL."The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. Just for the record, I don't have an Emotiva Amp but I do have the LMC-1 pre-amp AND the MMC-1 pre-amp. These pre-amps have what looks to be like the exact same binding posts as the one for your amp which are used for the outputs to zone 2.
I just tried 2 GLS banana plugs, one regular one and one locking. They BOTH fit into the binding post perfectly.

Just to be clear when I said "I'm crushed" I was being sarcastic. The only reason I posted because I didn't like the way PFB handled this. I do not promote Emotiva. In fact i did not comment on Emotiva or their products at all. Just the way he handled this and I get comments because I have Emotiva products in my sig. Yes I am proud to own Emotiva gear and I know it is not for everyone. And the comments do not bother me in the least.SDA SRS 2.3tls; RDO 198's, Dynamatted, Armaflexed, Gimpod Boards, Crossovers by quadzilla: Clarity ESA 630V, Mills Resistors, Track Audio Spikes, Musky's Curly Maple Caps

I fix little stuff that breaks like this all the time. I hate when people blame stupid stuff like this on the perceived shortcomings of others, as if they didn't have any part in the failure at all. Tight fit? Push harder... Yeah, that works. At some point, the pressure you were exerting (likely at an angle) was greater than that binding post could withstand. It snapped. So, have you found all of the other threads on the Emotiva Lounge and AVS about binding posts spontaneously snapping off?
You wanted everyone to read your thread and think less of Emotiva, but I think there was an unintended consequence... -

He'd probably get bum shells...and then start a thread about it. -

My Banana won't fit her Emo!!! -
I bet if Emotiva found the problem due to a manufacture defect they would repair it under their warranty policy, and would gladly reimburse you for the shipping charges, all the more reason to support your local Hi-Fi store you might pay a little more but they take care of you. If your local Hi-Fi shop does not sell or support Emotiva and thats what your set on, then that is the chance you take with internet suppliers.Home Theater

I know what you mean DUDE!!
Look, from what I gather, you we're trying to insert the plug COMPLETELY WRONG, and snapped it off, and now your doing the same thing you have done previously on this forum, dragging a name through the dirt because something didn't go your way. I wasn't saying anything about your amp or its operation in my previous post, just pointing out that you have done this same thing before, in multi-threads, which is not needed. You have been here long enough to know that. Pay the shipping and repair costs, plug it back into your rig correctly, and enjoy. Its as simple as that.
Get off your horse, man up, accept responsibility and become a polkfarmMAN!
Good freakin' luck, for the first time ever, I really feel sorry for you. -

Your right I'm just assuming since you got banned from there.. -
If PFB is a real farmer I'd hate to sell him a tractor or hay bailer or any other equipment that he could screw up.
