Oh, that's right. Mine has this meter on the front. I think it measures the temperature in the room._________________________________________________

I also know a lot about cables. People say cables don't make a difference, but I know better. I removed the input cables once. Guess what. There was no sound coming out of the speakers, even though they were still connected to the amp. Weird, I know. But it shows that cables do make a difference._________________________________________________

Hehe~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~

Edit: And my amp is not 200 WPC. It's 250 WPC. Not sure what that means, just throwing it out there.Ricardo wrote:Oh, that's right. Mine has this meter on the front. I could also tell you guys a story about a subwoofer made with cardboard. Not only that, but it had a hole....to let the air out. And they used black paint....to paint it.
But you guys wouldn't believe me._________________________________________________

I'd believe you -- unless you said you need close to 200 wpc for it. Then I wouldn't believe you any more (even if you let me VU your meters). -

I'd believe it. I saw one made of 2 styrofoam plates. it must've been a protoype, he hadn't painted it yet.design is where science and art break even. -

No you would not need close to 200 WPC, as long as you use an Amsoil carboard box._________________________________________________

heatsink and chasis size seems a curious thing to base your heavy skepticism. Anyways here it is from the horse's mouth (Robert Adam of Classe Technical Support): "the CA-300 and CA-400 have adaptive biasing... Bias is kept low at idle to reduce heat, and increases under the load as output increases. Both models run class A up to 20% of rated power before running in class B. That means 60W and 80W respectively."
Ok fair enough but sliding bias schemes aren't pure class A and that's to me what class A is when people mention it. And yes heatsinking and chassis size has a direct correlation to whether or not something is pure class A. That chassis and heatsinking wound never dissipate 80 wpc class A.
It was just an observation and now we're just discussing semantics as the classe amp is a high bias A/B amp.

Really Brock,I assume your reference is an NP article that you will gladly link for us.There have been a number of fine true Class A amplifiers that utilized them.Think early Krells, and Classic ML2's etc.
Pure class A, single ended? I was under the impression Bi-polars weren't rugged enough to be stable run like that.

I sense people are tired of me and this thread so I'm out guys."Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. They are used for skin tanning....mhardy6647 wrote: »You "vu" them with your eyes from across the room... and they tell you stuffs about your amp. Important stuffs.
And that too if you are looking at it....So ifs I aints gottz one meanz I izn't Knowledging the important stuffs?:frown:
But only important if you open the eyes and listen to music. If you close the eyes to listen, you can't VU anymore. But still good for skin conditioning.Trying out Different Audio Cables is a Religious Affair. You don't discuss it with anyone.:biggrin: -

BJT are pretty rugged and stable for using Pure Class A. In fact, BJT love heat. They comes alive as a fish in the water when BJT is biased very hot before thermal breakdown. It's a magical biasing region for the BJT that's akin to Tubes.
And pretty stable to low load impedance as long as you have many of the BJTs in parallel as output transistors.
No, we are not sick of this thread and you. :biggrin:Trying out Different Audio Cables is a Religious Affair. You don't discuss it with anyone.:biggrin: -
