Racetrack "speakers" are pieces of wood mounted to a surround. There is no speaker there brotha.

Dont believe me I will take a picture of the "Racetrack PR" out of my SM450... hehehe

Sorry - I see they are indeed subwoofer and not Passive radiators.

    My bad...

Interesting, I wonder if someone other than Magnolia will be carrying these.

I would be curious to see where these Polk drivers stack up to Seas Excel drivers...

Hmmmmmm What a great design change from Polk. I seriously am excited -- for the last... forever Polk has stuck to that lame T/M/M - or T/M/W or M/T/M with a side firing driver... just real plain and safe -- this is awesome.

Cant wait to put my ears on a pair. Way to go Polk

They look spiffy however, I never been too keen of plastic enclosures :( , too bad Polk didn't stick with the brushed aluminum, I guess I'll stick with the RM30s, RM20s and RM10s ;).

You won't see them at Magnolia, but then again, you guys already know that. You guys know everything, right?

    ;)

I'm with you on that - screw the plastic enclosures !! but these bad boys aint pure plastic :):

"Available in decorator-friendly Hi-Gloss “Blackstone” black or white finishes, the Blackstone TL satellite/center channel system is housed in a strong, steel-reinforced curved enclosure designed to deliver sound free of cabinet vibrations and less audible coloration from internal surface resonances. Five-way, heavy-duty metal binding posts accept 14-gauge cables, offering hookup versatility and secure connections with other source components in a home theater system."

I guess we'll have to wait for full specs before making any decision.

These are anything but 'plastic', look, feel, everything. Not that I condone throwing speakers, but I *could* toss a current RM sat across the room at you to catch - I wouldn't do it with a Blackstone TL, especially if you were standing in front of something I value.

The best word to chew on is 'substantial'. That's what I think of.

IMHO the new design of the LsiM towers looks much much better than the previous generation of Lsi. However, it will take some getting use to as the oval flat-diaphragm racetrack subwoofer drivers have car driver look but overall the design looks much better than the previous Lsi generation. Can't wait to see HiRez full blown pics and specs

They are "steel impregnated" enclosures. Two steel plates are mounted inside the cabinet to reduce resonance and add weight. They make the RM series look juvenile, no offense.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    NO.

So, you are saying that the press release is wrong? It stated that independent dealers would be carrying these along with a "big" retailer who could properly demo them.

I just can't wait to hear them. But when you put that 4K into prospective of other companies its really not that bad IMO. Look at def techs, Paradigm, ect top of the line speakers, they are more than 4K.

Still not digging the look of the black speaker, but the cherry versions look quite nice. However, trying to wait patiently for higher res. photos.

Yup. It seems Polk is making the LSi M a serious competitor to 'audiophile'-grade, boutique speaker manufacturers after a long time. The LSi's have always been known to offer great audiophile SQ for the money. It seems Polk pulled out all of the stops with the LSi M, and are showcasing what they can do when they aren't limited by a mass-market price-point, and a mass-market distribution model.

I personally couldn't swing these without risking a divorce, but its something that I (along with a lot of other polkies, I'm sure) have wanted for a long time.

$4K will be MSRP, no? Street price (i.e. Crutchfield, not gray market) will be a bit less.

Excitement level here (which I share) reminds me of glory days of Emotiva forum. :)
