dorokusai, do you know how we can get a hard copy of this press release? It was a nostalgia touch to include Mathew picture in the laser lab. I think Polk used that picture for the first RTi series back in last century! :)

You guys need to read that press release, it contains detailed look into the contraction of the speaker. LSi will have real cones/spikes now that are adjustable from the top via a hex wrench. Cabinet is also improved with no parallel surfaces - the cabinet sides are tapered to the sides. I just can't wait to hear them. Any chance for a demo in the Dallas area?

No more hard copies are available....or were. I just grabbed a couple while I was there. The best you can do is print the scans I just posted.

newsman, in good time, don't worry.

Mark, how about a new thread with all the press releases? Just a thought

I'm not doing it....so if you want to, go right ahead. It would be a good idea.

I love the look of these things!

also the spike idea of not having to lift up the speaker but adjust from the top is AWESOME!

also not the normal metal jumpers but looks like speaker wire jumpers is nice, also love the cut-a-way shot in the press release.

Mark, is that Audio Research amp in the demo room?

LSiM series will continue with the same high-current amp 4 ohms requirements?
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

They are supposed to be 6ohm for most of the spectrum but 4ohm nominal. This isn't a speaker for folks with low end gear since it's a flagship series.

The gear was a Audio Research Ref5 for pre-amp, Audio Research HD220 hybrid amplifier....Pioneer Elite(?) as a transport only and a pretty nice DAC, of which I forget what it was.

Those look pretty good - a lot better than the first pic would have led me to believe. Kind of reminds me of this:

The new speakers look great and have a look to match their price. (I just hope their sound matches or exceeds it as well - I am sure it will)

I know this is the LSi thread, but I read this in one of the linked articles
In adding its first wireless-ready subs, Polk has reconfigured three mid-line DSW Pro wired subwoofers to accept an optional wireless dongle that communicates with an optional wireless transceiver. The transceiver-and-dongle option is priced at $120. The company previously offered wired-only subwoofers and subwoofers with built-in wireless.

I am super excited about this. Does anyone know if the dongle is a standard RCA plug that we can use with any subwoofer or does it have a proprietary end that limits its use to the new Polk subs? This will really allow us to put a sub anywhere in the room that it sounds the best without worrying about cable routing options. I will be purchasing a Transeiver and dongle combo as soon as they are released.

    :)

I am very excited by the new polk lineup - Great job everyone.

Looks Great but I still prefer the old LSi look (i.e. wood sides)! But how it sounds is most important of all. Why are we going back to the past with the oval drivers? Any particular sonic advantage other than the smaller foot print for these oval bass drivers?

Am I correct to think there are 4 ways XO in the tower series? Tweeter + Mid-Range + Mid-bass + Sub-woofer?

Wow, the new line is sexy looking. I like the old line of LSi very much but with the grills off they kind of look like Soviet cold war military equipment in comparison with their highly functional down to business appearance. I'd still take them though.

Generally, narrow cabinets image better due to less diffraction...and also have a better WAF.

I'm looking forward to hearing them.

Great looking and the press release really sounds like the engineering is a next step up from the current Lsi's. I could see a set of those towers making an apperance in my family room. Well thought out and well executed. Can't wait to hear them.

You also have more radiating surface area than a traditional cone driver. It's also why they used it in the subwoofers. As a general rule of thumb, the PR should be bigger than the actual driver. There's way more to that generic statement but it's what you'll see across the subwoofer series from Polk.

There will be no powered subwoofer model in any of the lineups. As in, no more LSi25....thank goodness since it was awful.

Just finished reading the press release. Excellent job, it doesn't appear that any shortcuts were taken. These should be a nice step up from the current LSi's! Great job Polk!

Where and when can I be able to audition one near Los Angeles?

Do we know how much it costs yet? I don't think I would miss any powered subs in the Lsi25 too but it all depends who you ask.

Once they are released, it would be interesting to do an A/B comparison between the new LsiM and a modded Lsi, both from a Audio and Cost/Value perspective.

The MSRP costs are all in the press releases that other folks posted earlier. A couple pages back I believe....or here on the website, facebook, twice magazine online, etc etc

The new LSis are beautiful looking speakers. If the perfomance matches the looks, and they are indeed an improvement over the current lineup, they should be winners hands down. If they are all that...Polk should definitely be able to compete in the mid-high end market(based on the MSRP).

Unfortunately, I am not in the market for new speakers right now. I am still looking forward to a demo. You never know...I may just have to liquidate the gear in the basement to pick up a pair...

And no Russ...that does not include the RT400s.

I see the crossover contains a Zobel network.

Wonder if this is ala a similar setup MIT is using with their speaker cables and does it take place the use of shotguns with these speakers?

The black LSi M's look a little too plain for me. The LSi Fx is the ugliest to me. But the cherry speakers look great. Great job Polk. Can't wait to see a cherry bookshelf. Cool pic of the slanted back as seen in the tower pic. This is mentioned in the press release.

Polk seems to have pulled out all the stops on these and addressed any of the shortcomings of the previous series. Though I've read the material on the Zobel network...it does not convey much to me (I'll only understand this 'better' when I 'actually' hear these--there's a limit to how much tech stuff I can process--and as we all know---it's in the 'listening in the end?).

They're certainly one NICE looking set of speakers. I agree with Joe (HI) above...This should position Polk, nicely, within the mid-hifi domain and probably threaten some of the offerings that are even 2 or three times their costs. Although 4K is certainly beyond my means. The bookshelves will probably be (eventually) in my range. So I look forward to the demos.

    Kudos to the Polk Team!!
