Yep...that's the trend these days. Even huge stores like CC can't keep up with our economy the way it is right now.

Well, I hate to see anyone lose their jobs, especially at a time like this... But I can't say I will personally miss circuit city- at least the B&Ms... their prices were consistently ridiculously high were I live. Their clearance prices will probably be like buying at normal prices on amazon...

It really sucks that 34,000 people will lose their jobs. In this economy, I wouldn't want to have to look for another job.

I hope they have killer liquidation deals so at least some can find some good in this. Like me!

I went to my local CC today and it was packed but the prices were barely lowered! CD's and DVD's were 20% off and certain electronics were 10% off. The only thing that was cheap was the inattentive staff and arrogant managers.

I think the liquidators are in charge starting today, and they are getting some percentages of the sales proceed, so to their need to make money, those prices will not go down significantly, not in the first 3 weeks or so. Even the CC store Manager is no longer in charge.

I wonder if their sale will be as good as Tweeters. I would buy some stuff at 50-60% off.

i went into a circuit city today, i walked out with nothing because there was barely a sale. 10% some stuff, nothing more than 30% off anything. Any of the decent receivers, tv's weren't on sale at all. I couldnt find a single bluray player in the store, not even a sticker for one. All the monster power items were full price. it was the most pathetic store closing sale i've ever seen. Circuit city is a joke of a store and that's y they are closing

At least they didn't do to the employees and customers what Tweeter did.

Forget about getting any "Crazy Low Prices !!!" at Circuit City B&M's if the Liquidators have landed.

    Here's the scenario:

    1. Week 1: "Everything 25% Off !!". This is after they have their crews
    mark everything up 20%.

    2. Week 2: "Everything 50% Off !!". This is after they have their crews
    mark everything up 40%.

    3. Week 3: "Everything 75% Off !!". This is after they have their crews
    mark everything up 70%.

etc, etc. Timeline and percentages may vary, but that's the routine.

If you can find a place to hide stuff, and come back in X weeks when stuff is marked down " 90 !", than you'll do okay.
    Otherwise, fergidaboutit.

Was it packed though? I went by one here yesterday, and there was a mob in there. The prices were no lower than the BB right across the street, but people were going nuts. Any other time I've been in that store me and the other customers were always outnumbered by the staff. It's weird the way telling people they're getting a deal (even if the end price is no deal) makes them freak out.

It was Black Friday mentality, every CC locations went through that yesterday (at least in SoCal area). Sad, isn't it?

With the economy the way it is today, and how plentiful jobs are, I think I would still want to do good at least to get a good recommendation from my supervisor for my next job.

oh well that's different then, if you actually work for them. Good luck in the current "no" job market.

Got my Sunday's paper this morning, and (as always) has the current week CC leaflet ads for what's on sale. Sad, they must not even bothered to intercept the run (well, it has been paid for in advance I am sure). I wonder how many folks would bring in these leaflets to the store and try to argue with the liquidator manager to get what's advertised. Do you think the store will still get shipment for new DVD/Blu-Ray Tuesday release? :o

There ya go, you can compare the prices in the ad to the liquidation prices.

Why cant we get sales like Tweeter had ? I remember years ago when Tweeter closed several locations in MA, they had great sale. and now when they closed completely.....its the same great sale. They dont increase prices, first week or two its 20% and then goes all the way to 60-70%. I got both my Dynamo subs for $360 and Depth i for $950. Now those are real deals
