Real ethical. Please use Club Polk for a reference. Where is Justin? -
CC has already been passed off to the liquidators. You had a better chance of getting a deal at Christmastime when they were still hoping to stay afloat. I have seen a lot of stores close by liquidation in the past several years, and there is rarely what I would consider a good deal. It's typically 20 percent off junk that had been sold earlier for as much as 25 percent off. Only now you have to wait in lines and know that all sales are final.
If I had been running the company, I would have sent out 75-percent-off coupons to my loyal customers a few months back before turning over the stores to the bill collectors.Gregory

And the liquidation company will bring in junk that they have in stock from other stores that they didn't sell off in the past.

Back in Nov - Dec they closed a few stores in the Balto - DC area. The deals were ok but in most cases you could do as well or better buying elsewhere on-line. You could find deals on items that usually aren't discounted. As time goes on, they mark things down more and more but they have exclusions that are regular price. Some of the theater-in-a-boxes were good deals (Denon / Boston Acoustics). The Polk speakers never seemed to get down low enough to be worth the while. Monster interconnects were a good deal and I got a couple Dynamat Extreme door kits for $23 each. Cameras were only a good deal in the final days.

Went to CC to do some shopping today and noticed that my Samsung I bought from there a couple months back at $1900 is now on sale with 15% of for $2100. Everything was still overpriced even with the so called discount.

I remember when Tweeter was going out, I stopped in the local one Thanksgiving weekend, and could've had a pr. of LSi15's for $850, pr. of 9's for $450, and MicroPro1000 for $400.
Good luck finding that set-up for <$2K.
God I miss them:( There's NO (box store) place to buy anything above the TSi line now.:mad:I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE! -

The store near me sold the LSI series but I guess not many were selling so now they only sell the VM/RTI and below minus the RTI a9's.
Polk needs to do something. -
Perhaps Polk could open up small boutique shops, kinda like Oreck. A small space, but they could setup the line of Polk speakers, and properly demo them. And sell quality accessories for the budding audiophiles out there.
Ah well it was a fleeting thought.____________________

Or we could all sell polk out our house like Avon.:D -
Isn't that what mini-polk fests are?

If you count Fry's Electronics (mostly CA and NV thing)...they stock LSi's and RTi A's.
On the Circuit City thing; I used to work there about a year ago now. Lasted six months. I couldn't stand my unethical managers and the lies I was told to tell customers. It was ridiculous.
Now, I know some great people that still work there and are losing their jobs. I feel bad for them but know that as competent human beings, they will find jobs. -
I wonder with the way the economy is how is Polk doing.

What's their distribution of affordable products in wide outlets compared to their competition? I went in to see if there was anything I could pick up. There prices on Blu ray movies are jacked up as well. BB sells a movie for 29.99 while CC sells the same movie for 34.99 then take 20% off.
I'm not bothering with CC sale, it's not even a sale.Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
This was mentioned this in a different thread but since its relevant...
CaligulaPolk picked up a NIB Onkyo 805 for $402 and I picked one up for $463.
These prices are similar to or better than the refurbs. Of course if they were still easy to find they might be had for less, but they are not.
The Onk 806 is listed @ $999 on sale for $899 which is far from a hot deal esp when Vanns and OneCall have it for $630 incl shipping.
I don't think this varies from their asshat liquidation pricing as I think they already had the older Onkyo series retail prices marked down to their clearance prices, but what it does mean is that maybe some CCs still have some of that older stock and just might not even know it. So the ONLY way I can see to get a deal at CC is to look for that needle in the haystack. When I called one of the stores to check on the stock of the Onk 805 they said there were ZERO in the tri state area (PA, NJ, DE) yet I was still able to find one but only because they had the stock piles in the customer areas (not in the stockroom). So physically checking is likely the only way to be sure. Or just wait until they get closer to the end.
Honestly I think there should be some stipulation in the Bankruptcy law or judgment that in any liquidation order, there should be an actual attempt at liquidating stock, rather than the veil or psuedo liquidation these companies get away with.
Sales would probably have been better at the normal everyday pricing than they are now.____________________

same thing here....there are priced higher than there were 2 weeks ago....funny thing is there are sadly 3 stores all closing in the same center..a World Market..the CC..a Michaels..and there was a Comp USA that already closed.....only store left in the entire center is a Office Depot....sad signs of the times.... -
We needed a GPS for work so I went to CC to look for a deal. Garmin205w for $225.00.
2 days later I went to BB for a movie and saw it for $224.00 regular price. I used to like CC because you could hagel price but the store was always a mess and the sales people did not seem as educated about products as at BB. I would rather deal with privatly owned stores.Michael

Went to the local CC tonight as I was nearby--so just wanted to share
Prices had dropped a bit more than last time. All Recievers are now 25% of reg price and they still seemed to have a pretty good amount of stock on the floor. But the Onk 806 would still be too high at about $750 (relative to Amazon's price) not sure how the other brands and models compare to other stores.
All CDs and DVDs are 30% off (incl BR). Not much selection left in BR though. I picked up a could South Park DVDs that were more expensive anywhere else. They had a lot of Music CDs, but not much selection.
I forget what the Digi cams were.
Car Audio Accy are 50%off.
All PC and Console games are 30% off including PS3,Wii and XBox 360, PSP, etc.
All game accessories are 40% off. (barely anything left for the Xbox, just wired controllers/Play and charge kits and fans)
Preowned Games are 40% off
Min discount is 20% anywhere in the store.
The console games is where I think one can score a decent deal since its seems to be hard to find good console games on sale anywhere except when they've been out for awhile and/or have really bad ratings, esp the newer ones-They alwasy seem to stay high for awhile, if they do go on sale its usu. only a couple dollars.
I picked up Tomb Raider Underworld and Prince of Persia for Xbox360, normally $59.99ea for $41.99ea
I picked up a couple game guides, reg $19.99 for $11.99ea.
Check out some of the preowned games. I've seen several that were in fact still sealed but with a PREOWNED sticker, so they are 40% off instead of 30%, so bonus if you find one you like. I picked up a few. Even if they aren't highly rated, they were cheap enough, like Two Worlds (xBox) I got for $11.99 and Golden Compass (Xbox) for $6.27.
And probably the best find was I picked up an Xbox Elite (120GB) for $320 (399.99-20%). It was just sitting there all lonely on the shelf. I've been thinking about getting a second one anyway
.
So things are starting to look up for getting some deals. And at least with console games, all the stock is not yet gone.

I'll probably stop by CC the last day open.
-
Went by to a close by CC, scored some CDs with pretty good discounts, average of $9.79 with the discounts, beats Amazon's prices: Dianne Schuur, Marcus Johnson, Jason Miles, and Take 6, all of their latest album. Also picked up Soul Calibur IV for $42 and Animal Crossings for Wii for $35.
Btw, they have a Nikon D300 with standard lens (18/200) for $1777, thought the price is pretty good. I am not in the market for DSLR (yet) but sure it's tempting.I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie. -

For some reason, the Halo 3 Game guide rung up at $0.01. The guy wasn't sure about that, but another employee said sure why not. I honestly don't know why the 1st guy would care at all. My bet is it was a leftover promo copy (probably part of a bundle when it was released) that they found and stuck on the shelf.
.
I'm a little upset though that they wouldn't take 40% off the 0.01 though. WTH-the oil companies get away with it.
