Nice grab. -
Got my plasma for $400 less than Best Buy's sale price. At first they gave me some stupid line that they could not open the box to check it out. I just left the stupid young punk that told me that and flagged down someone that looked like they had a little sense. They pulled it out, hooked it up, and helped me put it in the truck. WoooHaaa!
Smart man!
No way in hell would i buy a TV from a place where "all sales are final", unless i could check it out thoroughly and be 100% certain nothing is wrong with it. I would of done the same thing as you.
Sounds like you got yourself a great deal, enjoy! -

I did my last planned visit to the local CC, sort of the last Homage. After making a couple round, nothing I need nor want. ALMOST took a Guitar Hero III for XBOX360, supposedly 60% sale from $59.99 to $24. Well, BB is selling it for $29.99 - a real life saving of a measly $5 before tax (I checked afterwards).
I realized this is not the CC that I used to frequent. 10 more days left, the sign says. R.I.P CC, Good luck to the ex-employees.I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie. -

Well, yes for things that are broken and not warrantable. If you buy something like a remote, and something is wrong with it, I would find it hard to belive that Logitech wouldn't take care if the issue. Same for any XBox games, I would imagine that MS would have some way to handle a replacement (but really how often does one come across a bad game disc or even a DVD/CD?). The broken TVs, etc are just that broken, not defective. Defective will be covered. Thats all really a piss poor policy the liquidators implemented. Final Sale is one thing, refusal to allow inspection of the item before the sale is another--At a minimum, they should be able to purchase, and then while still in the store, open and perform a quick visual check to see if there is any physical damage and allow returns in those cases where its obvious.
How many confirmed cases of that happening have there been?
At my CC in Massachusetts a few of them were on the news having tv's on the floor in the box and not letting people open them to check them, they were factory sealed and once you bought them you were stuck with them if there was any problem with them.
That's one reason I won't shop at any retail store like CC or BB. The salesmen are like used car salesmen too. This one 18 year old salesman was trying to tell me that their bottom of the line Panasonic plasma is far superior to any Pioneer plasma and I knew he was full of it because it's common knowledge the Pioneers are the best on the market for picture quality and deepest blacks. -

Did they allow you to hook it up before you purchased it? They wouldn't let me or other customers take the tv's out of the box to hook it up to see if it worked or not. -
i didnt take the time to remove mine from the box and check it out before i left. but i did see others while i was in the store checking there purchases out before they where leaving the store. not sure if they would let you try it out before you purchased it? good questionsamsung 61" dlp led

Great buy,
I did notice at my CC that if you need entertainment racks/furniture those are some of the BEST deals left in the store.

just bought some tsi300's today from one of the CC's around here. 3 stores in the area and found the last two. Unfortunatly they were the floor models but in steller condition and half my system has been demos from CC so Im not worried too much. Gonna replace the monitor 50s in the front with these, move the 50's to the back and make my mon30's the 6th and 7th speakers to complete the 7.1, Oh Yea!

I went to CC to day in Gravois Bluffs, St.L, Nothing was left out, hardly they had few stocks, BUT MY HEART WENT OUT FOR ALL THE STAFF THERE, I COULD SEE THE CONCERN, ANXIETY, SADNESS, A QUESTION ABOUT THEIR FUTURE IN THEIR EYES, My Prayers go out for every person who has lost his/ her job in CC or any other company, sincerly hope this turns around very fast, I could not bear to see them like that.:(
But every thing BAD will also come to an end, and there always be light at the end of the tunnel, Hope this Tunnel of recession ends soon enough. -
Just got back from a trip to two local CC's.
Thw store in Exton had a lot of stock-I was hoping they still had the Canon 40D's, but oh well. They have quite a bit of CDs and DVDs and accessories, but not much selection and really nothing worth while.
The first in Wayne, PA had little left-mostly store shelving and file cabinets and such. They also forgot to put up any 60% off signs in the games section, they still said 50%. Not sure if they would have rung up correctly or not but....
They did have a bunch a bunch of the Entec (Monster) Wide Band Noise meter thingeys - I believe they are $40. Pass.
I am planning one more final trip to the Delaware store and maybe the Conshy, PA store, then I'm done.
Anyway--so I went to check out with my few items. One was an old DVD, Dragon Slayer. Yes the same one from 1981 (except widescreen and 5.1 DD). It's price label said $6.99. But something didn't quite add up right.
My Cart:
$6.99 DVD at 60% off should be $2.80
$34.99 DVD at 60% off should be $14.00
$19.99 DVD at 60% off should be $8.00
$129.99 PJ mount at 70% off should be $39.00
This should be $63.80 before tax.
The cashier fumbled for a while ringing the stuff in-not quite sure what he was doing. This register was at the Customer Service counter so I couldn't see the screen as things were rung up. He told me it would be $97 something. I said now that doesn't sound right. After some struggle with having him actually read me the how the prices rung up, it was detemined that the Dragon Slayer movie which had a regular price of $6.99 was now apparently much more and apparently something else was as well.
I argued how could , in the final days of liquidation 60% off, the sale price of a movie from 1981 actually be more than the regular price on the sticker? There was not one sticker on any other item in the store that didn't reflect the original inflated price-so why was this one special? It's actually more expensive than the liquidation prices on BluRay's an actually more expensive the regular price on some blurays.
He said eveything is marked back up to full retail. He explained that DVDs, after they are out awhile, will start to drop in price. This would have gone back up to full retail and that the Sticker was wrong and there was nothing he could do about it.
I mean any sane person could see there was a clear error with this. Essentially he was telling me that the regular price for the DVD was something like $75.00 before the 60% off (to account for the total coming to about $30 more than it should have).
I asked for a manager--who saw my logic and asked the cashier to rering everything--and guess what magically now the DVD was $2.80 (without any override). I really don't know what level of real-wolrd work experience the guy had but his CS skills and logic truly sucked. He didn't even apologize for his apparent error and/or lack of judgment.
I honestly don't understand why any of the employees that are left would bother arguing anything at all? Like they're protecting thier awesome company from getting ripped off by scrupulous customers. Its a real shame.
I guess my point here is--keep a real close eye on the prices that ring up and ensure they match what you expected-I'd wager that if I didn't catch that error, they would have told me to pound sand if I came back to get it corrected.____________________

Picked up a PSW111 sub new in box for $150. Pretty good deal, $70 cheaper than the lowest online price I could find.
Almost went for a pair of TSi 100's in box for $100 but decided to pass since I do not need more speakers.
If anyone is looking for a good deal on a Polk sub, CC seems to have lots of those left. -
Picked up a Harmony remote at 50% off and they had the Panasonic 58" plasma for $2200.
-
I went on Saturday. They had one Harmony 670 remote left for $75.00 but I passed since it was open box already.
There were about 20 TV's left, **** demo speakers, 25 different CD's, 15 DVD's left, 2 turtledoves and car charger in aisle 3.
Sorry, I have Christmas songs stuck in my head.
The only thing that really caught my eye was all the interconnects and video cabling from around the store were for sale at $20 a bundle. I'll wait until the last day, which is Sunday, to decide.Slowly emerging from the 90's

I would guess although all purchases are final, Polk Audio still backs what you purchase for the Warranty period? Again I bought a PSW111 for $149.99 with a 5 year warranty

I was in my local CC last Mon. and they had many (20) Lenovo desktop computers for $423. We almost did the sale, but before we did, an employee told us it would be wise to come back on Thurs., as that was the day they typically dropped prices. I was also scoping out the Velocity Micro gaming rigs, but cheapest was still $1500.
Came back on Thurs., got it for $330! Intel core 2 duo, 640 GB, 6GB DDR2, Lightscribe burner, etc...Got the last one, sealed in box.
I almost pulled the trigger on the AV snakes they had the tv's hooked up with....($20/ea) Didn't really need it, so I passed.
Last night, (Sat., last day) I stopped in to grab a subwoofer cable for a friend, the price of the AV snakes were $10/ea. I snagged 2. Looks like quality wire, shielded 75-ohm coax. I can cut of the molded connectors and replace with good ones. Perfect for connecting to a 5 channel amp.
I go back to the car with my score, and the wife asked if the prices had dropped on the gaming computers. "Damn! I didn't even look!" So I parked, went back in, and sure enough, they had 2 display models left, marked at $880. Intel i7 Quad, 500GB, 3 GB DDR3, 2x Radeon HD 4850 cards, etc.
The cheapest I've seen this computer, is $2100. Granted, it was a display model, but it came with all the accessories, adaptors, even the t-shirt. I'm making this post with it now. SCORE.:D -
There's really nothing much left at my store. Most of you must live in larger Metro areas that are having items shipped to them continuously from warehouses and smaller markets for sale?
For those of you in the hinterlands. It's pretty much over. Adieu CC!
