Eh, they may not be for everyone but they aren't doing it wrong. Insanely priced? You bet. But QSA is no joke and the results are outstanding. FWIW.

Total BS!!! You'd have to be a moron to buy one.

It is a $28.00 Pass & Seymour with little colored costume jewelry stones glued on the back.

Reminds me of the Machina Dynamica scam stuff such as the clever little clock and magic stones that people swore improved the sound of their rig.

Not really. They use the same technology they use in their PC's and fuses. I use one of their fuses and the results were stunning in the PS of the MF KW-750.

I took one full week of burning in but after that? I was very impressed at the changes it brought to the table.

On this one, I would reserve commenting about them until you actually use them or hear them in a rig, before and after installation and burn in.

Tom, there is absolutely nothing they could do to that receptacle that warrants the price. To even suggest I need to, "actually use them or hear them in a rig, before and after installation and burn in" is beyond ludicrous.

    $711.00 for fuse!?!

They state, "All are designed to eliminate the distortions created by a typical fuse."

Just how does a fuse create distortions???

I paid something like $125.00 for a Synergistic Research Blue fuse once. Thought I was crazy for doing so, but I did it anyway. The result, no difference...none, nada. Total waste of money.

I hear about or have read about observations from SR fuses being the same thing as yours. No difference. The QSA fuse in my rig was not the same at all. As for the fuse creating distortions? Eh, I don't know about all that. What I do know is that the standard fuse that was in the KW was absolutely bottle neck for the system, when going from that to the QSA Red and Black. The change was not subtle at all. I would have never known, had I not tried it.

No, I did not pay retail for it....or anywhere near retail. But I will say this. It was worth every penny. I would have never tried it, if it weren't for a local audio friend that had a spare (He upgraded to the Silver fuse) and allowed me to use it in my system. I didn't like it at first because the bass was WAY too bloated and sounds were all over the place but after the week went by in the system? It gelled with the rig quite well and the sounds were very nice. Extremely musical. Especially the instruments.

It also makes the responses to a PC upgrade vastly more noticeable as well. I just wish the prices were more reasonable. If I had to pay retail, I wouldn't know what I know now.

No worries. I was just reporting my findings/observations. There is a new product that is hitting systems and the reports coming in are very favorable. One that I will try out after some other plans come into fruition for the rig. That being a SDFB (Swiss Digital Fuse Box). These are much more reasonably priced and they lose the fuse altogether. FWIW.

This question is going to sound snarkier than it actually is (and for which I apologize):
For any of these audiophile fuses, do the manufacturers provide any information on how well they work as fuses? Are they slo-blo or regular? Do they pop at 150% of rated current? 200%?
IF they're being used as mains fuses -- I'd be kind of curious about that.
    One's insurance company might, too.
OK that last sentence was snarky-with-intent.
But, in all seriousness, are these products (be they $125 or $700 fuses) good fuses?

As far as the SR fuses are concerned they are standard fuses that supposedly have been zapped with a million volts or so from a Tesla coil and a small dot of supposedly graphene placed on the paper label, which looks to me like black paint.

    That can't be.
Black paint was banned in 2021 as being....the thing.

black paint would explain the price.
In the (earlier) days of CRTs, the grey material visible on most of the tube was a graphite-laden paint called Aquadag. I googled to check the spelling and I guess it is still a thing.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aquadag
More of a silvery-grey than black, though.
    :|

I learned about this stuff, and lots of other CRT ephemera, from my father. Indeed, he, named Raymond, chose as his CB handle Cathode Ray. What a cut-up he was. :|

It is not a simple algebra problem as some suggest. That only works if you ASSUME that Cost=Price. If not, then you have P = price and C = cost, then C = $1 + P/2. Not so simple.
