I’m old enough to remember a time when the NFL - and the Super Bowl specifically - were damn near 100% A-political. The players, coaches, advertisers and commentators kept politics OUT of the game. In fact, events like the Super Bowl were where folks went to GET AWAY from politics.

Not so much any more… sad.

Come on dude, don't be silly. Nothing is apolitical, and the NFL certainly never was. The political agenda was simply assumed and hidden. That's actually the most dangerous kind of political agenda...

As for Taylor, she is a decent musician (I can pick up my guitar and play any of her songs by ear in about a minute), but she is really good at her craft, which is writing songs that connect with her audience and being an incredible entertainer. My wife and daughter loved her show. My wife did musical theater and vocal performance in college, and she came away very impressed by the show (not her voice or the musicianship necessarily, but the quality of the performance).

And no, TSwift is not particularly political. She did endorse Biden in 2020, but she didn't make a big deal about it. She mostly just does her thing...

I didn't notice anything political about the Super Bowl, maybe some of the commercials?

I'm not sure as I really haven't paid any attention to SB commercials in a few years as they just got really lame.

To be clear, I did not watch either - I caught all the tidbits I know from various news sources.

I mostly gave up on the NFL when they started changing the game - (instant?)replays, no more hitting, “football moves”, etc. then the death nail for me was the taking a knee for the anthem - a bunch of entitled millionaires signaling how bad they have it in the freest country on the planet… and to be clear, the NFL is NOT the only league to suffer this nonsense…

It was quiet/tame this year IMO, the only political commercial I saw was the Kennedy commercial..
Yeah that one was a head scratcher for sure...my son turned to me and asked 'Is that the crazy Kennedy?' to which I replied 'pretty sure...'. But maybe I am wrong. I guess I don't care enough to Google what it was about.

The NFL announced Monday morning that the U.S. Air Force would take pregame theatrics to new heights by dropping the first roughing-the-passer flag on the Buffalo Bills during a B-52 flyover.

“We’re thrilled to collaborate with the U.S. Air Force on this spectacular display of military pride to honor the Kansas City Chiefs-Buffalo Bills matchup in the only way we know how: by setting the Bills back 15 yards before the game even starts,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell told reporters.

But the extravaganza doesn’t stop at the flyover. The first penalty flag, a 152-foot behemoth, will unfurl gracefully from the B-52, covering the Bills’ bench and players in a symbolic, and literal, gesture of demoralization. As the Bills scramble to recover, paratroopers will descend onto the field, armed with hundreds of penalty flags, ready to deploy in a dazzling formation alongside Patrick Mahomes in a choreographed dance at midfield.

The crescendo of this unhinged pregame spectacle comes as the paratroopers unsheath batons and proceed to beat Josh Allen into submission, all while a troupe of dancers dressed as NFL referees stand nearby, intensely grooving as they pretend not to see Allen being bludgeoned into the turf.

“God bless this great country,” Andy Reid declared with misty eyes when informed of the event.

“I get emotional every time Mahomes gets a perfectly-timed game-changing penalty to seal a win. Watching the U.S. Military drop the first flag? That’s going to make me bawl like a baby.”

I have hated football ever since the seventh grade in practice when Bubba Jones flattened me in the defensive backfield after the whistle for no apparent reason other than he was a jerk of the highest order.

    I read two predictions today.

Either the Chiefs win or the Eagles will win. :s

It looks like it's up to the referees again! :#

I hate conspiracy theories but that Chiefs "catch" in the last game was terrible. Instant replay has really turned into a double edged sword and hornets nest for the NFL imo. I say get rid of replay except for 2 challenges per team, per half, in use it in the last 2 minutes. Games are too drawn out nowadays.

I’m not going to say that the NFL is trying to make the game un-watchable, but if they were, would they be doing anything different?

    It's still 50/50. :D

    Get your popcorn here!

I think I heard Kendrick Lemar is the halftime act. :#
I did watch the Grammys Sunday night because Teddy Swims was going to perform something.

I must say, it was better than the previous shows by a lot BUT... man...what's with the satanic productions they slip in and the shout-outs to tell Trans and **** people to stand strong and not bend or waver to whatever blows their way? Pink Pony Club?

I thought I saw a production of "Date's Inferno" level 5 that night. Last year that Smith(?) dude played satan himself in hell getting rubdowns from all the 25 red bodies. That was bizarre!

Back to Kendrick Lemar, There's a rumor he's going to rap..." Not Like Us" for whoever is watching. :o

Absolutely - I can’t think of ONE redeeming quality. The guy can’t sing, can’t dance, and doesn’t play an instrument. He talks fast. Wow.
