That cat seems to have found him a new human...
That's what they do
Well, at least -- that's how we got Griswold (the first cat to share an abode with Mrs. H and me), when we lived in the Silicon Valley. He painstakingly and methodically insinuated himself into our lives over the course of two years.
When we moved back East, he ended up flying coast to coast with my wife & our kids First Class on American Airlines (albeit in his little cat cage). That wasn't really the plan, but that's how things worked out.
Griswold had a good, long life, too.
He chose wisely.

OK. Game on.
I'll see your Eno, with Chris Squire and his A77 -- and a Quad ss preamp (from the sleeve art of Fragile)...

... although my personal favorite remains Pete Townshend's late 60s/early '70s home studio.

Gotta love that pair of ReVox G36s.

Dunno [EDIT: I didn't know] the Star Trek connection offhand, but I do know that we have, in large part, der Bingle to thank for Ampex's very existence (and the availability of tape for recorded media) after WWII.

As an ego-centric aside (imagine that) due to the kindness of one of the local gurus (now, sadly, deceased), I have a pair of the same (or very similar) American Microphones here -- someplace.

(borrowed image from the web)
(I think that Bing might've crossed paths, you know, on the road to someplace, with guy -- once or twice
)
@KennethSwauger I know I can't keep up with you in the arena of tape ephemera... but it's still fun to try!
Keep 'em coming & thanks!

Gordon Lightfoot with a Revox A77 in the background.

all of the cool kids have A77s.
But, then again, the really cool kids have B77s.
And the seriously cool kids -- have Studer A810s (or similar).

as seen Elsewhere (ahem, ASR, ahem...)
-
The coolest of all the kids, the kids who wear winter coats all year long have a Studer J37.

Or, an Ampex MR70 with the added fun of using nuvistors.

That's his new spot on our back porch. He can maneuver all on his own.
There's a display shelving unit from a K-Mart I helped remodel sitting there. A travel/party cooler on top of the shelving unit. Then him. He found a way to get up there some how.
He's like a Panther! 20"+ long or so before the tail.
He can jump up 30" with ease.
