    The 2 stumps are still there. They have a BIG stump spread at the ground level. I almost went out yesterday to saw them but didn't... :s It's going to take some effort to saw horizontally through them. I sawed some close to their size and man was it a challenge for this old man. This Redtip Hedge wood is solid!

    I woke this morning to a stiff neck for some strange reason. It's fine now but I still don't feel like going out there this afternoon. Maybe tomorrow.

    Why'd they need to be removed? Were they diseased/dead?

    Yes. Diseased. :( The hedge was doing pretty well but it was 20'+ tall. We had a tree company cut them down to 6' a few years ago while they were here removing a Cedar tree from our front yard.

    There is a Red-tip plight that can run through a hedge pretty fast. I plucked diseased leaves off of it for many years. Picked some diseased leaves off the ground too. You have to. I kept that hedge beautiful for many years...Almost 30 years. ;) But then my neck got bad just about the time those pics were taken in 2012. Then they grew above 20' easily. They were still OK but the spring AFTER the tree guys cut them down to 6', that dreaded attacked almost every leaf a week after they sprouted.

    Here's what it looked like for 25 years or so;

    Here it was in 2012;

    An old co-worker came over that day to help me out. He was a BIG help! Look at that deep green beautiful foliage!

    And a couple of years ago;

    Before;
    Dec. 2014.
    I could swear they were another 10' taller. But the Cedar tree looked like that before they cut it down. I'm going to the date when they cut that tree down and compare how much time passed.
    c9zozsglcbii.png

    After;
    Oct.2017. I don't see a pic. of the tall hedge before they cut it down to 6'.

    I get to decide again what I'll plant there. May plant nothing and just put up one of those short white picket fences. :) Tom Sawyer...I want you to paint it. :D
