Interesting as he touches on the type of amp you SHOULDNT be using with this.

Looking forward to his actual review.

Why does she keep saying "Poke Audio"?

Pretty good video until he suggested using unused channels on your AVR to bi-amp them for "more power". After that he lost most of his credibility.

There's only one thing to add to this...

Almost no one finds my humor and nonsense amusing. If you don't, I will simply move along since I provide absolutely zero benefit to the forum.

Fixed to be a more accurate statement.

I am currently bi-amping my L800 to take advantage of the SDA with a single ended treble amplifier 160W@4ohms with a voltage gain matched quad-balanced bass amplifier 450W@4ohms.

I am about to setup my L800 with active Bi-Amp with the crossover set at 370Hz. Is it ok to remove the woofer low pass filter?

And on another note, the active crossover is a 3-way balanced crossover but currently only using it as a 2-way with High Pass and Low Pass filters, switchable to include a midband filter. Obviously the crossover network will need to stay for the treble section since there are necessary SDA components in there. For this crossover can I also create a schematic and perform component upgrades similar to what VRF has done for the older SDA?

If I keep the crossovers in there 5yr factory warranty will still be intact. Weighing the risk/rewards

@Clipdat for me there are two benefits to active bi-amping.

    1) treble gets single ended power amplificatIon needed to get the full benefits of the SDA channels
    2) power needed can be delivered to the speaker where it counts

For testing I used my ears. I ran them for a month on a single McIntosh MC452 and it was lacking on the SDA magic I heard at the demo. I had burned in and tested with a McIntosh MC452 and a Marantz PM-10.

Knowing about the deficiencies of SDA pulling a signal from differential balanced amplifiers, decided to try two non-balanced amplifiers a Rotel RA-1570 and a McIntosh MA5200. And immediately, I can hear the soundstage transform. I am now using an MA5200 for treble SDA and an MC452 for bass where power is needed.

    Hope that helps you.

    @dromunds yes it is.

I heard the SDA magic when they were run off a Marantz pre pro and amp. Maybe it's the Mac that's lacking.

F1Nut. Please call Scott Orth or Stu Lumdnsen. Scott personally told me of the SDA power amp recommendations after I bought them. They can’t pull a proper signal from a balanced amplifier. Its likely also why they demo with Marantz single ended amps or the PM-KI Ruby because they are not balanced. My Marantz PM-10 also did not produce the SDA effect to its fullest. But the PM-10/SA-10 is absolutely rocking on my older 707s?

If the PM/SA stack worked with the L800 i would have run with them. The combo is amazing.

What is your proper amp recommendation for the L800? Maybe Parasound Halo A21+? I heard good things about parasound.
