^^^^^^^^^^^^Good price.
A re-clothing of the grills is surely needed but easy to do if they are particle board.
I wonder how much mold is behind the grills and is there any water damage to the bottoms of them.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

No scam... I really did need these but I picked them up today...
Brought them home and other then a few mark's here and there they are in very nice shape.
After looking them over turned out to be only one tweeter bad out of the 6 the owner lead me to believe. I had a spare sl3000 leftover from my 3.1TL's when I did the 198 upgrade. I popped it in and all is good now.
Not sure if I'm going to keep them or not but I'm definitely going to update them a bit.
I have some Black hole 5, new screws and I'll seal the cabinets and glue the magnets.
Happy so far... -

I saw in a Polk sales brochure that they were meant to be used with RTA12s.
Polk said it was their "BEST" Polk stereo speaker "set up" to that point.
I'd have to agree just by hearing my RTA12b's alone. I can only imagine for now what those bass units would add. Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

I just looked hard for that Polk Manual that said the RTA12s and LF14s were their BEST stereo system up till then.
I tried hard to find it.
I know it exists though.
Maybe in the future I'll see it again and post it.Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

This brochure suggests that it was usually used in combination with the Model 4s:

I see you twos Polk comment pages.
I saw what I saw. It exists.
If you don't have space...use the monitor 4s. That's in those ads.
The "top ad" says you can use one...for satellites and one sub...OR...use 2 LF14s for a stereo pair.
BUT...if you have space and $$$, I guess Polk wanted people to get the RTA12bs + the LF14s and enjoy one of POLK audios greatest combos up to that point. That's what the ad said.
I think the ad even showed where to place the speakers and subs.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

I wonder why they built that for the 12b? It's not like the 12b is shy on bass at all. In fact I almost never find I need to use my sub with my12bs. Except for movie time.
That would be a very cool sub to have though. Looks like it would be very easy to build you own out of a 12b cabinet. Since everything on top is so easily removed. I dont imagine the crossover is to difficult to replicate on that sub. -
Oh I'm sure you did. It's treacherous or confusing sometimes to wade through the info in some of the Polk brochures. For instance, in the brochure I gave the link for above, they give a frequency response for the LF14 of 24 to 200 Hz, and for the 12C and 10B they say it is 17 to 26,000 and 22 to 26,000 with no +/- dB given. If they were comparable in the +/-dB then you would say why use a LF14 with either of those, so something is a little screwy with Polks info. me thinks.George / NJ
