$1500 is a price that would pique my interest for those SRS's if I was a little closer. 8 hour drive each way would be a bit much without a stayover. Those 10's look very early.

I agree to a point. Are you in the Asheville area? Seems to be very few audio people these days especially in the South. Hell here in SC I only know of a handful of audio shops in the whole state. Must people buy the big box stores newest thing or pay $$$$ for the newest thing all set up.

I earned my merit badge when I was 23 and I drove from NJ to Littleton, CO straight through in 33 hours with a cooler full of fried chicken and beer and a pocket full of nodoz.

PS: the beer was for when I got there.

Many fond memories there. Not long after I graduated "A School" NATTC Millington closed. Aviation schools were transplanted to Pensacola and Millintgon became the on stop shopping for Navy Personnel Command.

Yeah, it would be nice to be able to flip them for a small gain if they don't work well in my space. Not to mention the two and a half hour round trip and lunch I'll be buying my buddy who's truck we'll be using to pick them up.

You know, now that I look at these closer, they seem a little different than the ones I've been working on. (sda-2b-resto) Are they 2B Studios? The little trim pieces above and below the grilles looks like they've been added on. They don't have endcaps. No skirts down on the bottoms, no endcaps, black vinyl veneer? They are pin-blade where mine are blade-blade. Just curious, I've not ever seen the Studio versions up for sale in these parts...

Good eye, these do look like they have been modded a bit to resemble the later 2B's. Pretty sure there was an earlier version (Studio Version) that didn't have the separate top and bottom caps. The later 1C's and 2B's were an original Studio cabinet with the cloth covered side panels and the top and bottom caps that were just added on.

Correct there was a SDA 2b studio version. Those do appear to be studios with the base removed and trim added. I've only ever personally seen the 2b studios in black, I've heard there my have been walnut also.

There was also a version made for the PX/BX system that had thinner materials in the cabinet walls and looked like the studio version but were covered in an oak vinyl material.

Those look just like mine (and in better shape than mine); I haven't seen that cabinet style too frequently. They were early 2B studios with (in my pair) blade-blade interconnect. I did the 2BTL mods on mine (and later added a neutrik connector when I built a Dreadnaught). Can't seem to find a decent picture of them, but here's the bottom when I was installing crossovers once-upon-a. Top is same as shown in the ad. I like this cabinet style better than the standard studios, but wish my vinyl was in a bit better shape!
