Seen these on craigslist today. Polk 3.1tl for 400 dollar, but the fellow says he'd be willin to trade. Ad says the tweeters been upgraded so has the bindin posts and he has the connectin cable. Only one catch, they're in Paris.

I noticed that the texture of the dome looked different, like maybe it was lacking in doping. Here's another one that might be Danish made. It's a 3514XXXX, but perhaps that was just Infinity's numbers vs Polk's 7514XXXX. It certainly looks just like the ones in my 7Bs, sans the hole again. I have heard it said that the hole was so that they wouldn't be damaged by air pressure changes during air shipment. Seems plausible but I still wonder.

A PR "emulates" the volume of the port in a bass reflex (BR) enclosure. The moving mass of the PR, in theory, should equal the mass of air contained in the volume of an equivalent BR enclosure's port. In practice, the moving mass of the PR is tuned with added mass* to provide the desired system resonance.

* A storebought 'generic' PR often has a threaded rod in the center of its diaphragm and mass can be adjusted by adding nuts to the bolt. At least, that was common practice a decade or two ago.
