    wayyyy too much

So I originally posted this a week ago. Still FS for 12 hundie. And I noticed the seller has them on eBay for 11 hundie. I'm thinking that he most likely would accept $1000 or less, to avoid paying any fees.

Is $1000 too much? Asking for a friend.

they are much more expensive to recap. I do believe some of those drivers "MW6513" may be very hard to get. Stock I'm thinking 650/700 max.

Dammit man! I have to move the left coast. I'm spending that much upgrading my 7Bs that I paid $350 for in 1979! But I get so much enjoyment out of them I think it'll be worth it.

How do those Passive Radiators get wrinkled like that? My PRs on the 7B have very stiff tri-laminate cones. No chance of wrinkling ever.

IIRC its the failure of the adhesive. Looks fugly for sure, but from what I've read will not affect performance. Just gotta keep the grilles on!

The first passive radiators had a thick foam rubber like front. Something under bubbled after many years between the styrofoam and top, but even though it looked horrible they never completely delaminated. The next generation of them had a plastic like front and the proper weight needed was in the form of a weighted bolt in the back of the styrofoam instead of the weighted foam on the front. Not all the foam fronted did that but a good majority did.
The smaller Monitor/RTA speakers never used passives like those only RTA12 and the first SDA's which had the 12" passives

@pitdogg2 Very interesting. A weighted *bolt*.....as in a bolt of fabric? What was it weighted with?

Nope a bolt .. like as in carriage bolt. As I've never taken one out I'm thinking the length and diameter would account for how much weight.

Hmm, I though low mass was desirable for a speaker cone. Learn something new every day here.

You must have the proper mass for a passive to resonate correctly in tune with the cabinet at the proper frequency.
