LOL, I don't see anything in the description about him offering to let you hear them before buying! The comments about the wife are funny though:

Wife says quit messing around with what you think these are worth, and move these beast's!
The time has come for me to part with my classic Polk Audio SDA Reference Signature Series System 2's, complete with the interconnect cable. If you are looking at this ad then you know what these are so, I will spare the spec details.
They have been used but, not abused. The speakers have been moved around over the years, so the wood areas have typical nicks, scratches, scuffs, etc. (see pictures).
You can tell by the the photos that they are in excellent condition for their age, and the speaker surrounds appear to still be in excellent condition.
If you are looking for some classic solid performing Polk Audio high-end speakers, then these are for you. These speakers are original and unmolested (no past repairs of any kind).
Although it has been awhile since I used them on a regular basis, they are working as well as they ever have however, because they are classic electronics they are being sold as is.
Price is fair and firm.
First $525.00 gets them.
Serious inquiries only please.
Thanks for looking.

These are local to me, might have to have a look. Original boxes and all.
They look like 1C's ? Pin/blade IC. Good price!
They are definitely 1C's, I surely don't need them, but if I can pick them up worth the money...I might
Hehe. Of course you need them!
I've had a couple of modded pair in the past, and sold them to fund something else. The 1C's are very good speakers, but I always thought that with the close proximity of all the Mid-Drivers, that they sounded a little "congested" in the Mid Range.
But, they don't come up for sale very often in my part of the Country, and they do have the Original Boxes. I would really like to have a nice pair of 2B's
SDA SRS 2.3TL's/SDA SRS 3.1TL's/SDA CRS+4.1TL's and some other stuff
I had bunches of SDA's crammed into a top 5 worst room contender in forum history they still sounded great....in the kitchen or on the porch. Hell, I'm still trying to find the sweet spot thanks to placement and imperfect USED DRIVERS.
Mine are TL, and start with 62xx serial numbers so you are good to go. This is the first I have heard to there being two different thicknesses in the end caps. Could be that Polk changed things on the fly, as they were known to do that back in the day. The other is that one of the two speakers had the caps replaced at some point.
The good news is they are both TL's.... now let the mods and upgrades begin.
@nooshinjohn you hit the nail on the head with the panels....
Now for the rest of the story...
I had to go back to pick-up the interconnect cable once he found it so I asked him about the cabinet mismatch and he told me the following:
He bought the speakers as close outs back in 1990 or 91 and these were their Demo set. He said the demo set had one Walnut cabinet and one Oak cabinet to show off the finishes the customer could choose from. He bought the Demo set and then contacted Polk to see if he could swap panels to get the Oak finish for the Walnut cabinet. They let him ship back the panels on the one and mailed him the new ones but apparently the new ones were a bit thicker and not exactly the same color (thus why the speakers are the way they are today).
I still think they will be a good set for me and I was pleasantly surprised today when picking up the interconnect cable....... Not just the cable it is an AI-1. Although I won't use it (I have two Dreadnoughts I built that I need to put into service) but It's cool to have....
So I'm pretty happy and yes I will have to do some modding eventually..

They should be 300.00 to move them fast!
I know. I read and saw where it doesn't look like he's set up to play them. He wants us to buy them "AS IS" also.
Your wish is my command.
You like bass, right? These would be for you. For starters anyway.
They're the speakers that took me seriously back to the stereo nirvana listening rabbit hole!

It's amazing that wire even works.
The wood caps do look great for a change.
Nice speakers for maybe a good price but come on...take the grills off, people!
Let us see what the cones and domes look like.
I'd snag em for that price!
