That disc does not have digital sound.It's analog only.
I may have only plugged up my optical out. I'll have to check that. These music video disk are one of the main reasons I have kept my Ld player.HT/2Channel: Emotiva MMC-1, Adcom GFA-555II, Polk SDA 3.1's, Teac TN-300 TT, Polk Center and Sub.

So how does the Pioneer Elite DVL 91 rank as a CD player. You've peeked my interest now.
-
@chumlie
I put a whole series of posts about just that very subject right here in this thread. The catch is ya gotta go back several pages to read it. -
Suffice it to say it is a kicka$$ CD player/digital transport
-
There are several DVL-91's up for auction on eBay now and also a Meridian 519 AC-3 RF demodulator. The links to all of them are here on various pages of this thread. I CANNOT stress enough how synergistic a combo the two make. Also the DVL-90 with the Meridian. This is actual user experience I am talking about here. The transports of Laserdisc players as I have said previously are designed for discs that are much larger and heavier than CD's or DVD's. So when you pop in a five inch disc they are loafing. Add to that the reclocking circuit in the Meridian to eliminate Jitter and we have a winner!!

Messed with the LD this week. I have audio cables hooked up so I'm assuming teh LD I bought is defective. Oh well. Glad it was only $8.00!HT/2Channel: Emotiva MMC-1, Adcom GFA-555II, Polk SDA 3.1's, Teac TN-300 TT, Polk Center and Sub.

@xjghost
You may have to manually switch to the analog inputs if your receiver or processor either automatically gives the digital inputs priority. Or if you have manually assigned the digital input to a specific device. You will never hear the analog inputs until you make the switch. -

I have not had time to look at the Yamaha 3030 yet. It's new to me so I have to fiddle my way through the menu and figure out what it means.HT/2Channel: Emotiva MMC-1, Adcom GFA-555II, Polk SDA 3.1's, Teac TN-300 TT, Polk Center and Sub.

Ouch !!! Had my eye on one at the bay. Ends tonight and it's costing Oppo money.

@chumlie
Of course we're dealing with personal value judgements here, which is all over the map. That being said,these players are tanks and cost almost two grand when they were new. I posted the links to a bunch of them above (*see previous posts by me*) I would say just be patient and look around. That is how I got the exact one that I wanted. It took almost a year of waiting and watching.Not everyone is so patient of course. -
Just scored this on eBay for six bucks. Excellent mastering of the picture and 5.1 Dolby Digital soundtrack.
It's interesting and funny when one of the villains gets into an argument with the Narator. You can hear the Narator coming from the left rear channel! -

Yet another thing that Laserdisc did.
High Definition video.
Of course this was Japan only,
However the point is that it is one of many things that this format had first. -

WOW you should see how much this MUSE High Definition Laserdisc is going for!

Maybe the one I passed on wasn't bad for $ 430. I'll keep looking.

You have to do a "manual" switch to analog ins on the Yamahas (I have a similar but newer setup with an outboard B&K AC-3 decoder).
Also, you need to get that Polk speaker project moving along!

Problem is I piled up a lot of debt doing all those upgrades last year. Including the 3.1TL's.

A quick read of this thread reveals that honestaquarian talks to himself. Perhaps he is not as powerful as the Emperor had forseen.

It is your Achilles Heel underestimate the power of Elite. -
Obiwan once thought as you do, then he bought an Oppo. I I wish I had an Achilles heel, but I lost them both on Mustafar.rednedtugent wrote: »Lord Vader wrote: »A quick read of this thread reveals that honestaquarian talks to himself. Perhaps he is not as powerful as the Emperor had forseen.

I gotta admit though. After reading through his thread, skimming mainly mind you. Cause anyone wanting a LDP can search ebay. The numerous links is not needed. But....with that said. I still don't want an LDP--Gary--
Onkyo Integra M504, Bottlehead Foreplay III, Denon SACD, Thiel CS2.3, NHT VT-2, VT-3 and Evolution T6, Infinity RSIIIa, SDA1C and a few dozen other speakers around the house I change in and out. -
Okay
Just to clear this up for @Lord Vader and @halo71
This is a long thread so I wouldn't expect either of you to have seen all of the discussions amongst myself and several of the other Laserdisc afficionados. The links are for THEM.Butcha gotta read the whole thread in order to see that.
Isn't it interesting how quick people are to comment,joke,judge when they do not have all of the facts nowadays? -
I'm not judging. U crazy!
