Are you talking about Denons Laserdisc player(s)?
More information please?
When you start off in the middle of a thought I'm not very good at figuring out what anyone is talking about. -
yes. The Denon's. I wondered if you put one thru it's paces.honestaquarian wrote: »Are you talking about Denons Laserdisc player(s)?

No,but I have seen them in action a LONG time ago.
I think Denon was one of the only companies who wasn't using a Pioneer transport for their players.
I don't remember if they ever made one that changed sides.
Solid piece of kit though. -
Thanks HA. So, they aren't elites.

No AC-3 RF out though.
This one predates that. -

Panasonics weren't bad either.
This one's a side changer and has an AC-3 RF out -
Honestly, I wouldn't buy anything (old) unless it was a Pioneer and had an AC-3 RF out.Yamaha RX-A2050 AVR (5.0.2); LG OLED77C2 4K TV(4) Polk Monitor 10B's w/SoniCaps, Mills, and RDO-194 tweets (R/L F/R)(2) Polk RC80i (Top Middle)Polk CS300 center channelAnalog: B&O TX2 Turntable, Nakamichi Cassette Deck 1Digital: Pioneer CLD-99 Elite LD, Panasonic DMP-UB900 UHD Blu-RayBedroom: Arylic Up2Stream AMPv3 driving Polk Monitor 4's w/peerless tweets

Seems crazy the price of some of these players. Some are beat up. Some are parts only and still seem to bring top dollar. I do enjoy checking the links you post HA.

@quickr1
Here is another example of what you're talking about.

Yeah. I bought mine years ago on here from mantis. I don't remember what I paid but it came with quite a few discs. It's an elite. If I remember correctly it's a cld-59.

Oh THIS is PRECIOUS
Look at the sellers feedback

I had a CLD-704...with an AC-3 RF mod...and it worked great. I sold it when I bought my CLD-99: wish I had kept it (although I got decent $$ for it).Yamaha RX-A2050 AVR (5.0.2); LG OLED77C2 4K TV(4) Polk Monitor 10B's w/SoniCaps, Mills, and RDO-194 tweets (R/L F/R)(2) Polk RC80i (Top Middle)Polk CS300 center channelAnalog: B&O TX2 Turntable, Nakamichi Cassette Deck 1Digital: Pioneer CLD-99 Elite LD, Panasonic DMP-UB900 UHD Blu-RayBedroom: Arylic Up2Stream AMPv3 driving Polk Monitor 4's w/peerless tweets

I had a CLD-704 with AC-3 and a Yamaha demodulator. It worked awesome for what it was. I sold it and all my discs for around $300 about 7 years ago when we moved out West. It was fun putting in movies like Star Wars and watching them on my 106" screen. I did comparisons of Laser Disc, DVD and Blu-ray with versions of Saving Private Ryan. While Laser Disc looked Ok on a big screen it was no comparison to Blu-ray or even DVD for that matter. I'm guessing the screen size didn't help much there. I had it more for nostalgia of a by gone era in my audio/video journey. It was hard to let it go back then as I really enjoyed the years with it - but I had all my movies on DVD or Blu-ray by then so I couldn't justify it just taking up space. I loved that player though, and I think it was the best non-elite that Pioneer put out.Speakers

I've read several editorials and reviews even on eBay that said the same thing about that player being the best outside of the Elite lineup

Here's a link to a review of the CLD-704 that compares it to the 97. The review is at the bottom as jpg images from a magazine article.
