Actually the brand name for the Skeleton was "Transcriptor" (or was it "Transcriptors"?) :- )
He started selling tts under his own name later (at least, I think that's right).

It came with a Stanton 881EEE. And yes, it is spelled Michell not Mitchell. When i bought it (in parts) I walked out of the seller's house and slipped on some ice, and it flew up in the air but I caught it so not shattered tempered glass. That was added to the "blooper reel" of my life, which is getting pretty long and frightening at this point.Norh ACA-2B tube pre, Sumo Andromeda SS amp. I've been working though a backlog of trying out some of the 'second tier' (and lower) hardware here in the "new" (well, it used to be new) listening room... Yesterday's volunteer was an old dump-find Heathkit AR-19. This quasi-complementary, capacitor-coupled receiver, as is, sounds... pretty bad. Kind of wooly and rolled off; sort of that late-50s/early-60s console hifi sound. I am thinking new capacitors on the outputs would probably help... a lot. Guess it needs to go on the to-do list.

I have a CT-F900 (two, actually) but neither is nearly as pretty as your family CT-F950. -

The AR-19 above had a Doppelgänger -- the AR-29. More powerful, and (I think) with a somewhat better tuner section, but otherwise cosmetically almost identical. Only the color scheme was slightly different.
This one, of course, was also largess of the Harvard town dump. It is unfortunately missing the shaft for one of the tone controls (the slide control itself is still intact and works). This particular unit sounds better than the AR-19 pictured a few posts above... but the tuner doesn't seem to be able to receive in MPX stereo.

The AR-29 was in Heathkit's model line for considerably longer than the AR-19. The latter was replaced, ca. 1972, by the cosmetically identical, though presumably improved, AR-1302 (and, no, I don't have one of those).

Just a wee update -- listening to a good-quality redbook CD on the AR-29 for the last half-hour or so (Rhino remastered/expanded version of the Dead's aoxomoxoa remix) on a pair of Dynaco A-35 speakers... and they're all sounding just dandy.
EDIT: For completeness, this is what the A-35 looks like (sans grille, of course) -- like the A-25, but in a larger cabinet with internal aperiodic loading between two subenclosures (woofer & tweeter). Nice loudspeakers.

The Miracords weren't actually all that uncommon in the US -- Radio Shack sold 'em for quite a while under their own brand (sort of). In fact, I had a couple of dump-find Miracord changers... long gone, now, though.

A friend had that Realistic/Miracord 45 with Optimus 5B (KLH clones) spun many a record on that system. Those 5B's performed very well (acoustic suspension). Plus RS gave them a lifetime warranty.
