Beautiful AR tt.
The Miracords weren't actually all that uncommon in the US -- Radio Shack sold 'em for quite a while under their own brand (sort of). In fact, I had a couple of dump-find Miracord changers... long gone, now, though.

Here is a Rek-O-Kut I rebuilt and made a tiger maple base for.
-
A friend had that Realistic/Miracord 45 with Optimus 5B (KLH clones) spun many a record on that system. Those 5B's performed very well (acoustic suspension). Plus RS gave them a lifetime warranty.

I just karma'd a pair of 5B's to a forum members son. Bought them new in the late 70's. I couldn't bear taking them to the Goodwill...

Recently I picked up one of these Kenwood KA-701 in excellent condition for my new garage rig:
-
a nice amplifier.
-
I have the Kenwood running a pair of ADS L520 speakers. Those speakers a real sleepers. Overachievers for sure.
-
I really (really) like the old ads/Braun loudspeakers. I've got a pair of L-710s and a pair of later, small-ish two-ways (L-470, methinks).
The mid/late-1970s ads speakers would've been my choice when I bought my first (then) modern hifi, but they were basically all out of my price range -- so I bought a pair of locally-made speakers from a little start-up company called Polk Audio that I could afford... -
I have a pair of the L520s as well. Keepers. Wonderful light and airy top end!
Nice Kenwood gear. I have a Kenwood integrated (twin power design) around here that needs some help. When it was working it sounded phenomenal with a pair of Polk Monitor 7s. Wonderful synergy there.
Enjoy!Currently orbiting Bowie's Blackstar.!

For how old that thing is it sure looks to have some decent sized caps in it.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

Two things to bear in mind.
1) this amp has quasi-complementary topology; two of those are (probably-- I actually haven't popped the hood) to remove DC from the outputs.
2) the size of capacitors as a function of capacitance has decreased a lot in the past five or so decades.
This HH Scott amplifier (this one an LK-60, the kit version of the Scott 260 integrated amplifier) has some notoriety due to an an ancient essay on a now-defunct website. http://gegg-agency.net/public/w3terra/ols/scott260.htm
I activated it last week when we had an early hot spell here in the frozen white North :-P It is, of course, soiled state and it runs very cool. It also sounds surprisingly good, actually. Totally unrestored (although I did clean the pots & switches when I acquired it a couple of years ago). Well worth replacing the coupling capacitors and electrolytics... sometime.

The Queen of the CR Yammies is rocking today
.. -
Hey... that's not a CR-3020!
or are you implying that the CR-2040's the Queen and the CR-3020's King?
;- )
-
Yes. The 2040 is the queen. The 3020 is the holy grail-King. I cant afford a 3020..
-
Nor can I -- or, more to the point, I'd have to find one for sale (locally!) before I could even decide whether I could afford it!
-
Lol.. Accept?.. I have an Accept lp and laughed when I saw it.. I have some hard rock lp's from the late 80's that make me shake my head.. I need to play it though for the fun of it..
-
Check this out. The singer from Tool, Maynard, one of his side bands doing Accept "Balls to the Wall". It's way different, very cool IMO.

Latest find. It was broke, now it lives!

Couple of flippers i picked up today. Pioneer sa410 & Advent Legacy 2's in the boxes. The little Pioneer does a pretty decent job for what it is

Sweet NS's Conrad,looks clean! I always wanted a set of the NS1000's .
-
I am trying to convince my son he does not need these LOL

Picked this Sansui Model 8 up for 25.00 sight unseen. Met the gentleman & he said his wife bought it new in the 70's. Front face is perfect-wood has some scratches & rear top has a big ding. That said this sucker is heavy & makes the Monitor 5's dance
