i'd seriously have to believe that the material used and/or size of feet could turn into a speaker wires-type of debate.

$400 for feet? podiatrists are barely worth the work they do for that price.

The sad thing for me is i won't hear any differance as when i am done with these speakers they will be on when i set them up. Guess i could put them on last just to compare. I might just do that.

I've done my 1C's, but I'm ampless and can't tell you how they sound. Picking up the new amp later today.

Unfortunately, yet again, I'm making a slew of changes at once, so I won't be able to comment on how the spikes sound as an isolated change. I'll only be able to say how they sound in conjunction with a new amp, a new pre-amp, and a new source....

Edit: Oh yeah, and new inductors in the 1C's...

I like what the spikes have done to the bass, much tighter and punchy.

OK, after much resistance in believing that I could get better bass from the great bass I experience with my beloved 1.2TLs, I am willing to take the challenge to see if I can get even better bass.

What would be the correct diameter to order from Mye Spikes Points and Pads for the 1.2TLs? If one were to choose between My Spikes vs. Parts Express, what would be the consensus? Note I am thinking of getting brass spikes which lok to be available only from Mye Spikes, not from Parts Express. I have the 1.2TLs on a hardwood floor. No carpeting or padding.

Thanks to everyone who can point me in the right direction.

Mye Sound....period. Don't get anything but the best for that excellent loudspeaker. You may not see them much but a beautiful solid brass billet spike in your hand will sell you from the moment you open the package.

1/4 - 20 spikes are what you need. Just tell Grant what they are for and he'll know exactly what you need. Tell him Uncle Jesse and Mark sent you.

Hee hee. Thank you for the quick response. I bow my head in shame, but really, I get VERY IMPRESSIVE bass as is, and I have done a number of modifications to these AWESOME speakers, so I am skeptical on how much more they will sound in the bass area when I spike them, but I am willing to give them a shot.

And I know I am going to hit a sore spot with Tool (i appoligize in advance) - but plan to use Black Hole 5 in my 1.2TLs. I will add it only to the back of the midrange driver area - none in the PR section. Does anyone have any advice regarding using Sonic Barrier for the side walls?

    Thanks again all!

I forgot to ask - will I need to drill any holes with the Mye Spikes, or will they just screw right in?

Don't overdue the cabinet treatments. Do the midrange first and relax for a few months. There's no need to change everything in a short period of time. Enjoy yourself. If you don't allow some time for everything to settle, after changes you'll never hear anything good and will be chasing your tail forever.

    Larry -

Thanks for the reply. I read your experience with the BH5s. Will you go back to trying it just at the midrange area? And did you rebrace the 1.2TLs or was it your other set of SDA speakers where you posted the picture of the BH?

    Thanks DorokUSAi and Larry.

I did a number of upgrades between last year and earlier this year. When I completed the upgrades, I said to myself that it will be the last upgrade I will make. Anything further, and I may as well buy a new set of speakers. No way that will happen!!!! I am an SDA'er for life!

OK, this begs the question - does the extra bracing you gave the speakers give more depth or weight to the sound? Better focus?

Bracing should have an immediate impact on bass and midrange response in my experience.

My sister has a big mouth. Can I use the BH5 to dampen her mouth? Any oppinions or suggestions on how to do this properly?

Only if she is also installed inside the actual loudspeaker.
