I would hardly compare them to Bose. Stephen Wozniak was a pioneer & a genius. Wonder how the PC got its start.

Yeah with all the experience I've had with MS products over the years, when it comes time to buy a new computer it will be a MAC. My son uses MAC exclusively, he is a videographer for QVC and every time I go to his house and get on his MAC, it's like a breath of fresh air. Heck I only use Microsoft office rather than Wordperfect suite because MS has the market cornered and I have to keep converting so that people who have Office can open my files. Wordperfect suite beats out Office in the big three categories for ease of use and stability.

Windows XP; I have the most recent version and it still has problems and I don't download anything or have any games on my PC. MS just is always in a hurry to get a product out and uses it's customer base to trouble shoot it's products. Now that is not completely out of the norm for any hardware/software provider. I just think MS doesn't do enough testing on their products because they don't want to pay for the extra time and work involved in proper testing procedures.

I agree. I built my machine exactly 2 years ago. Never had a problem or crashed except for locking up a couple of times(usually my fault). And it's still able to play the newest games on high resolution. I regularly go through MSCONFIG to make sure only the programs I need are running, this can make a huge difference.

    Hello

You'll probably take this with a grain of salt and there will be a few "yeah rights" but I'll go ahead anyway, nothing to lose I guess....

I've been heavily into computers for around 17 years and have gotten to the point of just building my own now. And from what I"ve found this seems to be the most stable way to run Windows. Mainly because there isn't a ton of garbage loaded on the computer from a name brand outfit. And I keep it simple, clean, run updates, latest drivers, etc.....

Two other things that I contribute to a stable setup and thats a router and a UPS. And I keep my computers running 24/7, the last machine I built, which is what I'm on now, has been running like that for 3 years now. I have Vista dual booted with xp and has been rock solid. Lots of ram and a raptor has helped any speed issues with both xp and Vista....

I have a virtually crash free system.... Theres those "yeah rights" now:)

Well, I do disagree. I find the least problems on standard PC systems like Dell and yes even Apple. For example, I rolled out 200+ Dell Optiplex's in the past 3 years and I have only had to repair hardware on maybe 5 of them and all of those were hard drive failures. I've built my own box's for the past 20 years and they are definitely more problematic, mainly because they are usually bleeding edge.

I've built four custom machines for myself now and 2 for friend and a relative. Never a problem on any of them.....solid as can be. If you use quality parts and the appropriate drivers, you should never have an issue unless the part was defective to begin with.

If a system runs into problems on bootup, for example a configuration change, you have to hit F1 to continue.
