New TT - I hate it

I disagree about the level of $ that is needed to play in the "vinyl arena". I have a 70's era vintage turntable that would be considerd at least a very good mid range table by today's standards and I have a Goldring table that was very modest price wise. I have maintenenced the 70's table and updated the cart and headshell leads but otherwise it is a vintage table. I have a decent phono pre in my pre-amp. I spent a fair amount of money on a good vinyl vaccum cleaner. The Goldring table is an above average table for the money and is a very good performer.
Are the albums that I play always dead quiet? NO. I do however get the benefit of a good analog recording when the album is recorded well. There is an audible quality that is not there in some digital recordings, especially some of the early digital efforts. Call it depth, body, fullness...whatever...it does exist. While I may upgrade the table in the future, I probably won't go to the level of many here. I haven't gone to that level with my digitial sources, tube gear, speakers, amps, HT either...and doubt I ever will. Squeezing out the last bit of audible information or finding that last bit of fidelity is not what I strive for. I will spend money for "better" but there is a point of diminishing returns that I won't cross.
I will say that those who feel they can state which is better (tubes vs SS, digital vs analog, cables do/don't matter, etc...) should have a reasoned experience with both before they make the claim. It is perfectly fine to state one is extremely satisfied with what they have. But don't claim it is better until you have compared it with the alternative. As the guy who supervised my phono section purchases told me, "you got some nice entry level stuff there".

It is always the first touch of what lay beneath the fine linen that excites the most. The anticipation and then the entry is everything to some.

Why not, some Avantgarde and Watt Puppy's, nothing wrong with raising the bar a bit now is there???
The Avantgarde are big no doubt and so effecient all you are going to need is a SET with no more than five watts of pure class A but heck you are going to need less than a watt to fill the house, need a very very good gain control.

I was looking at those trios. Problem there is I would be sitting right up on them and they are so wide they would be sitting side by side. Not to mention the subs would have to be in a different room... Just not do-able at all. My room is only 11 x 18.
