Atlanta man, cat no longer homeless after $35K raised to rent apartment
Tracey Hardin slept in his own bed Monday night for the first time since 2019.
His friend Patches, a calico cat, has stuck with him through the entire journey.
Lynne Dale, a woman who befriended him last summer, started a GoFundMe campaign Feb. 20 and raised more than $35,000 in a matter of days.
Dale and her husband Charles Williams met Hardin after he set up a tent in early September in Freedom Park just outside of their fenced property.
To help, Dale and Williams ran a 180-foot extension cord from their home to Hardin’s tent for an electric blanket they gave him, and also to plug in a nebulizer needed for his asthma condition.
Dale said helping Hardin out of homelessness was a “moral imperative.” Dale, who lives nearby, says she will continue to look out for Hardin.
Actress Elaine Hendrix, who plays Alexis Carrington on the Netflix series “Dynasty,” donated her own gently used furniture and styled it around the new apartment.

Paul W. Klipsch recorded his own material for speaker demonstrations, beginning with mono and moving to stereo in the early 1950s (at least 5 years before the first commercial stereo release) - eventually launching an entire KlipschTape division of the company. Jazz, spiritual, orchestral, and organ music were the favored tracks of the day – along with stereo sound effects like ping-pong matches and trains passing by. PWK is shown here duplicating tapes for dealers in the Klipsch studio, now the Klipsch Museum of Audio History. The museum has several hundred KlipschTape recordings in its digital archives, as well as preserving the original recording equipment. I am here to apologize for my Dr Seuss meme to those who found it offensive.. Not trying to get banned, sounds like I am on the verge of a time out, or full ban.. I truly wasn't trying to ruffle anyone's feathers..

Meanwhile... I know I've posted this before: My dad, with the same model Ampex (albeit a mono morph -- for AM radio location recording!).keysandampexforak by Mark Hardy, on Flickr
