Coming up for my 50th B-Day later this year. Almost a week on the longest cruise ship in the world (2nd to the largest). It will be my first cruise and probably my last. Going with my family and another couple with their son. Looking forward to it!

I'll keep the when private (NEVER advertise things like that online) but we will be driving, staying at one of our timeshares for a couple of days beforehand half way down to the port (We live close to Charlotte, NC). Probably doing the same thing on the way back. Probably a pit stop in St. Augustine or Charleston.

Yup. It's the Harmony. 9th floor with an oceanfront balcony.

We were going to go with the Symphony of the Seas but the decor looks like it was designed by someone who just graduated Romper Room. We liked the elegant decor of the Harmony much better.

They are only saying 3-6” apparently on arrival. Nothing like a constant 85 degrees in Mexico to ruin a New Englander’s winter.

It's getting cold down here in Wilm. NC. too.
    Seriously,
    Bone chilling outside. :#
Not like the freeze you guys are having up above us though.
No snow in sight for us this year I don't think.

I’m at the Biltmore right now and it’s definitely chilly. Not like it was just a day ago.

    Beautiful picture Joe! B)

    Just think about this...

The RICHEST man in America at the time, built his home there. B)

I use to travel the South East for many years and I passed by the estate many times on highway 40 and I could look over and see it at a certain section of the highway.

But...I thought about WHY would he build that Mansion where he did?

I've heard many times the AIR up there is supposed to be THERAPUDIC.

There's many other reasons. Deer, bear, mountain lion, rabbit and many more.

The Cherokee Indians Loved that area too. They had all they needed there.

Fresh water streams and plenty of wildlife of many kinds. Hunting was great back then.

So how did it work out for them?

Just for you @latovegas and others who think only of the past with disdain. I was just trying to say how beautiful it is in the mountains there around Biltmore Estate. I've met people who retired to, and want to retire there in the mountains around there and in Tennessee too. There's something about the Appalachian mountain areas. Magical and Spiritual too.

They lost their homeland BUT America is trying to help. Business people are trying to help also. If you visit Cherokee NC., you'll see they have a community and town still there that teaches Cherokee descendants the Native language alongside US teaching standards. The town has a business district where the stores are solely owned by Cherokee descendants. A HUGE casino was built and then expanded years later and some of the profits goes to this town of Cherokee descendants since it's initial construction.

    Research" Trail of Tears".

Research "Cherokee NC." to see how it worked out for them recently.

I stood at the exact spot where they ( one faction of the tribe in the Asheville area) finally gave up. The US and 15,000 couldn't come to a treaty so the US sent up thousands of military to FORCE the rest to move/walk West to Oklahoma. There was a small obelisk with details engraved on a plaque I think. It's been many years. The site was a disgrace! Overgrown weeds and just an abandoned 1/2 acre of gravel getting covered in weeds and saplings. SAD.

    BUT...
I searched the web many years later and saw they had given the site a complete overhaul.
Maybe in part from Casino profits or US Gov. funded due diligence.
