FWIW -- I don't think you'd be very happy with the presentation afforded by LaScalas. Tom Brennan has famously likened them to the dulcet tones of a Skilsaw.
They're very aggressive in the treble and while they offer the dynamics of horn loaded bass, the enclosure is much too small to extend very deep, so they are lacking in low bass. They're fundamentally PA speakers (and were sold in utility cabinets as such).
If you want to go the broadband, all-horn-loaded route -- cut to the chase and get a pair of Klipschorns. Even the current production K-horns (even after a recent price increase) are pretty cost effective relative to modern audiophile loudspeakers.
They are ahem rather large, and the classic K-horns require corner placement to load them properly (there is a current version that includes an "artifical corner" and is
more flexible in placement) but hoo-boy, they can do dynamics. They're also highly tweakable. A whole cottage industry of "Heritage" Klipsch speaker improvements/tweaks grew up, and still exists.
Perhaps, but I bet they would hold a lot of garbage and you could stack a whole lot of trays on them. -
Gotta warm this up!!

Anyone else watched the new Netflix documentary on Stanislav Szukalski?
Impressive genius. Tragic life. Unfortunately those two often go together.

off the top of my head, no -- some sort of transmitter triode. Lethal B+ (even compared to our usual, lethal B+ in DHT amps)
Just adds to the panache.

If you are going to do something STUPID, do it FAST so it doesn't affect someone else. -
As the crow flies, I am about 6 miles from Dobbins Air Reserve Base where the Thunderbirds landed on Friday for today's Super Bowl flyover. Yesterday, I heard the planes taking off about 5:30 PM for a practice run over Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The Thunderbirds were busy all day yesterday as I heard and saw them several times. If you are going to do something STUPID, do it FAST so it doesn't affect someone else.
