I was listening to the Wailin Jennys and drinking a cuppa tea -- but I wanted to be affirming :)

Actually, I was gonna add that I keep meaning to put a fire pit out back for those half-dozen or so days a year when death by exposure isn't a certainty up here on the tundra -- but I didn't feel like typing that much.

    Ain'tcha glad you asked?

Our little rescue dog, Annie, 2 months in our house and making herself at home.

    8fcl0p4fkocl.jpg

Six months with us now, and Annie is doing well, but she recently ate something on one of our walks. She does that a lot, so I watch her constantly, but can't be watching every second.

Anyway, I heard a small crunch and then she started coughing. Long story short, we took her to the vet who did an x-ray and found nothing in her throat or stomach that would show up.

He did, however, find that she had a pellet in her shoulder. Who the heck could shoot a little, cute, dog like her with a pellet gun? I have been spoiling her a bit more than usual since I found out.

Well, I feel like I am changing the subject :)

Our son-in-law & daughter are taking delivery of their new yardcare tool today.
We're sort of silent partners in the deal (i.e., we're gonna share it occasionally, too) so I feel a certain sense of -- I dunno, pride? Apprehension? too.

I am pleased to report that the tractor is ensconsed in its new home -- that
immense (72 inch) field mower is neatly parked in the pole barn, and the tractor (along with its big front-end bucket still in place) is resting comfortably in the barn (with room to spare).

That was this evening's project -- it went amazingly smoothly (although we were a little iffy about the beam of that bucket fittin' through the garage door on their little barn).

Yeah, we're thinking the same :)

He wants to skid logs with it (and bushwhack their fields, and till their garden).

I want to use it to remove invasive species on our hillside.

The local Deere dealer didn't impress my S-I-L. I didn't go over there.
The Kubota dealer has a pretty amazing facility -- and a very good reputation. and put together a pretty good deal for them (hats 'n' all).

Yeah, I know -- that was my JD dealer when we were in MA -- it was less than 15 minutes from us, out Root Two. They were very helpful when I bought my little lawnmower Deere from our pastor in MA (needed belts & suchlike).

Two-anna-half hours from here, though (plus, yeah, that tax thing).

For the record: We looked at some cheesy, "developing world" tractors, too (ahem). Not that there's anything wrong with the developing world, but their tractors are kinda... not there yet.
