Yes we started decorating. Kids are so excited about Halloween this year. That is the family room fireplace.

Columbus Day weekend is prime leafpeeping season in Northern New England. Leaves are going to be very near peak; hope the weather holds a couple of more days (we're not expecting weather from the hurricane, but there's still some chance of rainy/cloudy weather here this weekend).

Wishing safety for the Floridians on the eastern coast.

What's fall? We got our first mountain snow last night. It'll be gone and melted by the days end though.

Sunset from the other night looking west to the Jemez mountains from Santa Fe.

The clouds turned to a thunderstorm after dark.

Beautiful -- so much of VA is so beautiful.
NC, too.

Meanwhile, in New England... it's that time of year again...

That is fantastic.

Reminds me of a great Scientific American column years ago about self-referential paradoxes and other such metaphysical conundrums (e.g., Epimenides' Paradox).

Epimenides, I'm sure you all recall , was a Cretan (not a cretin) who is reputed to have once remarked.

All Cretans are liars.

(well, he probably said in Greek... or Cretano-Greek, or whatever... work with me, here)

You can see the problem, there

Other examples would be, e.g.

"This sentance has three erors in it."

or

"Disobey this command."

What should a PFC do if a superior strides up to him and barks the command above at him?
Discuss among yourselves.

Don't be pickin' on the Greeks Mark, or our resident Greek CNH may have to come out of retirement.

Probably bang that old knee of his too gettin' to the keyboard.

The leaf peepers got kinda sorta ripped off up here this Columbus Day weekend... the foliage is superb, but the weather was mostly grey. Gorgeous Friday, nice Saturday AM, then grey, grey, grey... then it cleared near sunset.

Well, maybe tomorrow will be pretty. Gonna be chilly, tho'.

My new little friend, a female Parrotlet. No name yet and she's a baby still being handfed by myself. Strongly bonded to me as her primary human, absolute suck for attention though.

She's beautiful! An absolute sucker for attention in an understatement though. I raised mine from a hatchling, hand fed and all. He's now 13 years old. This isn't the best photo. You really can't see all his colors.
