Ya know what? I can't stand inconsiderate people cutting grass and cutting down
trees and doing other yard work and construction work in daylight hours. I work steady
Midnight Shift to make sure you people have electricity so you can enjoy your lives and
what do I get in return? I get to try and sleep while everyone is out trying to make AS
    MUCH noise as possible.

And if I were to **** about it you know what I would be told? Use ear plugs!

So want to know what my revenge is? An 04 Hemi Ram with a Flowmaster Super40
Hemi exhaust system.. Yeah.... It's LOUD.... :)

Cadillac is worse.... sounds like a sherman tank going down the road -- 500 cubes of pure big block juice with no mufflers, no catalytic converters, and dual 3" pipes with a crossover. it's just sin on wheels.

I'm with most of you guys here in saying that loud bass can be a huge annoyance but you cannot make it illegal to not have it. It's already illegal to play it that loud but with no enforcement, how can the problem be taken care of? So lets fast forward and say this no talent assclown gets his bill passed. Do you honestly think it's going to be enforced? Tinted windows. Its illegal to go below 35% in Kansas, but certain shops still put it on and cops still don't enforce it. So even if it gets passed, who says anything will be done about it?

Problem is, if they start to enforce the noise ordinance, that would include large trucks, harleys, old muscle cars, loud ricer cars AND car stereos. Now how many police officers either own or are huge fans of the first three? Obviously they can't be hypocrits and say "Oh, that's ok, its my own truck." but fine the next guy. I'm sorry but Harleys are 10 times worse than any car stereo and I've heard some pretty damn loud ones right next to me. I've even had them to the point of letting me know of new rattles in my car but that still isn't as annoying as a damn Harley with a loud exhaust. Those things literally hurt my ears to the point of pain. Those will NEVER be enforced by police so thats why I'm not worried about this so called bill. It'll never go anywhere because this uninformed no talent assclown thinks he has a new idea.

you know, toxis has good points... but note that stock harleys are not generally terribly loud, it's the people that put on new pipes that piss me off, and cops don't generally ("generally") do that... and the point on enforcement is excellent, who says they're gonna care? they don't now...

My Harley has a volume control in my right hand whenever I ride. sometimes I crank it up and sometimes I let it stay low. I decide based on where I am.
If I am in a residential area I lower the volume to be considerate. If I am on the highway or in a mall parking lot I don't really care how loud it is. (I ususally wear earplugs for the wind noise anyway).
But I have received tickets for my pipes. I deserved to get them. I paid them.
The interesting thing is I deserved the tickets because I was **** around. When you screw around on a Harley the noise gives you away and if you are not paying attention a cop might be.
When the car guys start getting cited for their obnoxious boom boom boom they might try to not offend also.
Passing laws to ban their equipment is just bad. Period. Just bad.
Pass laws that fine the offenders, make the fines increase with offenses and possibly lead to confiscation if the offender does not heed the warnings.
Passing laws that ban or outlaw a legal item only opens the door for more bans on legal items.

This is why I don't **** about the ricers exaust. They sound absolutely STUPID to me but I love the way my Harley sounds. I would be a total hypocrate if I wanted to stop them from making their noise but defend my right to make my noise.
Therefore, I put up with their noise and their right to make it.

Now if you wanted to pass a law that made it legal to throw rocks, bricks, 38 special lead, at cars in your neighborhood that anoyed you I might be there.

    Here it is:
    Adam:

I understand your concern. In practice the legislation will only
target those who are blasting the
neighborhood. Rather than just seizing cars for the loud booming music like
they do in Chicago, however, we wanted to give some more objective criteria
for holding the car for evidence purposes when there are sound devices in
the vehicle that demonstrate that it is most likely the case that some
pretty intense booming music was heard by the police officer.
The legislation is broadly stated, because, frankly, residents are fed
up with the shaking and deafening music that some of these vehicles are
    spewing on the street.
I am not trying to harm or disparage car audio enthusiasts. I can
assure you that the intent is not to affect folks who will be getting a
permit and entering audio competitions outside of our residential areas.
I can understand your concern. If this legislation is applied too
broadly, I can assure you that I will be leading the charge to change it.

    Thanks. Craig

That's great that he'll be leading the charge to change, should it be applied too broadly. But the law's limitations should be explicitly stated in the law itself to prevent it from being appied too broadly the start with. If I can figure that out...you'd think he could...

Now, that's just analyzing what he said. I'm still against it 100%. The government should have absolutely NO say so about what kind of audio equipment I have in my car.

i can kinda see where he's coming from... we all know that laws are written one way and enforced another (when was the last time you actually went exactly the speed limit on a highway?)... i have no problem with idiots getting cited a couple times and then having their equipment impounded, maybe temporarily, maybe permanently...

naturally, the gov't should have no say in what i do as long as it doesn't infringe upon the basic rights of others, in this case a person's right to not have to deal with some dumbass's gangsta rap...

    Here is the real issue.
    Get a permit.
They will now let you have your system if you have paid for a permit.
Same way you can have a machine gun if you jump through all their hoops.
You can have cannabis if you have a tax stamp but you can't get the stamp till you have the cannabis but being in possession of the cannabis without the tax stamp is illegal.

It is all about revenue, pay for the permit and don't get in as much trouble as w/o the permit.

    Forgen bastages.

True. Another example is window tinting. I know several people who have their front windows tinited "too dark", and see plenty of cars on the road that are as well. I see them drive right past LEOs, and the officer does nothing. Usually, window tint that is too dark is only cited as a "secondary offense", because it's not offending anyone.....while a car stereo which is blasting (as you said) "some dumbass's gangsta rap" IS offending those who don't care to hear it!

Also true.....but sadly, some people abuse the freedoms and priviledges that they are given. I don't care that somebody listens to that crap....but I DO care if they listen to it as loud as possible at 3 AM as they drive past my house! I guess common sense and consideration for others should be a little more common, and then we wouldn't have legislators and lawmakers trying to write laws that many (and let's be honest....outside of the car audio enthusiasts world, there will be MANY) people will be happy with.
