We have just as good an argument as you have. We wouldn't do it, either and yet it seems that our right to have this equipment is being taken away.

If city noise ordinances were enforced....and then the word got out by mouth (through enough people being ticketed)....and there wouldn't even be a need for a city councilman to try to push this. Besides, ticketing "excessively loud car stereos" might bring in the additional revenue so that local LEO's could write a few less speeding tickets each month ;)

But there ARE avenues such as "city noise ordinances" for politician's to explore. But not only denying the public access to a product, but also directly affecting manufacturer's sales isn't the right way to go.

Amen. It's even stepping out of their jurisdiction. Wanna reduce noise on the street? Great, I'd like that. Start enforcing the laws you've already made. Don't infringe on our rights!

No really, I think it is going a little too far as to Ban the install of big amps , and subs..

If a person repeatedly get`s in trouble for blastin the sound, the courts could order the removal of the gear as punishment, after say , someone that is always being pulled over for it, but just like small children, some poeple need to learn how to play right , or thier toy`s get takin away and they get a time out..!!

first off....aaharvelwtf---youre a complete idiot. Your opinion sickens me. Honestly.

If you think this law is anything reasonable, youre an idiot.

I just spent 1000 bucks on **** sound deadening to make sure my truck is quiet on the outside...even with my 3000 watt sub amp and 450w amp for my highs.

THE only REASONABLE solutiont to stop this is decibel meters. Plain and simple. AND IT SHOULDNT STOP WITH CAR AUDIO. It should be every **** car on the road. My house has been rattled more times by harley's than it has ppl driving by with loud audio systems.

Trust me, I'm the first guy to say rip out all the equipment is some guys car when youre three blocks away and can hear "Who? Mike Jones...bummmmpppppppp" Thats stupid, but to outlaw a single 15 or more than 2 10s is rediculous. I know guys that compete in SQ with Focal 15s.

This hits very close to home for me even though I'm a few thousand miles away. Not only is this **** messing with my passion, he's messing with my money, and my life. I work at a car audio shop and this would kick my **** right out of college until I could find another job that pays as good as this one. I average around 11 bucks an hour with comission. Unless the state wants to give me grants, if this was happening in my town I would be at his office everyday and every city council meeting and make damn sure it didnt go through...

    this pisses me off

I kinda agree with Cody though..
My bike (Harley) will rattle your windows, and make your ears bleed..!!

But I do know how to, and do, keep it on the quiet side in the neighborhood..

sometimes it`s too loud for me...
and we do get tickets and the bike can be impounded for he pipes being too loud...

But ooooohh the sweet sound of raw HD power...get`s those short hairs on your neck standing tall..!!

although in my old age, the pipes are getting alittle loud, just don`t have the cash for new pipes...I spend it all on audio..!!!

sounds like im a lot my grown up than you are. You are the one who thinks this proposal should actually be passed. YOU dont get the big picture. YOU are not thinking about the people that are actually HURT financially about this. A lot of people that own/work in audio shops actually have family's to raise and rent to pay for. What happens to those guys?

I stick by my original opinion, youre an idiot. And thats the great thing about this country, I can say your opinion blows my left nut and I dont have to "move to another country"

Common Cody, that isn't a big picture view, that is a narrow focus.......

It is really about taking away freedoms from thousands of law abiding citizens who know how to responsibly handle the power at their disposal.

This would be the same as taking away all cars that produce over 30 hp just because a few guys are doin' burnouts when leaving the local Sonic Drive-in.

Stupid proposal, that may be just ridiculous enough to put the alderman's family in jeopardy. He means well, but doesn't know how to use his power.

While were at it, if youre caught speeding you should just get shot on sight. I mean sure theres a bunch of people against it, but that doesnt mean its a bad idea by any means

To hell with all the stock systems too. I mean some of the infinity systems in dodges have amps in all 4 doors. There are cars with 12 speaker systems.

God forbid all the buses that have more than 10 speakers. Looks like when youre on your morning commute to work youre going to be late because a cop is going to pull your **** over because your bus has more than 10 speakers.

Lets ban jet planes too. They make to much noise. Trains? We dont need em, they make too much noises.

You can have differing opinions, I dont care. But when you support something as ludacris as this and say "ppl with more than 2 12s have a little dick", youre a **** ****, no if's, and's, or buts

I put this up on soundillusions, i get an email an hour later titled "Some happenings recently on CarStereos.Org - January Update"

In it they had this to say(along with some other points of interest):
And a very recent discussion brought forth a rather unnerving piece of legislation against our industry and hobby in general. No longer are the members of government attempting to just create rules against those creating noise in residental areas, this recent tidbit includes wording that would regulate what they allow you to have in your vehicle! Read on for more information, and please do your part and respectfully tell them what you think about this.
    http://forum.carstereos.org/t58635-damn-near-everyone-who-reads-this-might-be-breaking-the-law-if-this-passes.html

I'm most certainly trying to spread this all over the internet to get as much support as possible.

i'm not saying it's a perfect law, far from it. I made that point earlier. If the ordinance is not being enforced, then what the hell? I mean seriously. Do you guys have any suggestions?

This so called ruling to me seems more like a last ditch effort to forcefeed some manners into the people who do this kind of behavior. Sorry if the ripples affect peoples families- but something has to be done.

And I'm perfectly aware that this is a car-audio forum, but something's got to be done about the noise pollution from these kinds of systems. Sorry to break the news to you.

Well then you start enforcing the CURRENT noise ordinances that exist now and punish the ones that are actually violating it not the people that are obeying the law and minding their own business!

Its the same crap with the gun laws. They dont enforce the gun laws we have now so we need to just outlaw them. speechless-smiley-034.gif

Yeah, the suggestion is ENFORCE THE EXISTING LAWS!

Some moron is cranking out 150 db's driving down the road, the cops should bust his **** and slap him with a $500 fine not bust the 3 guys sitting next to him with systems that were listening at normal levels.

People wont obey laws if theyre not enforced.
