my apologies to anyone else if they are sick of this thread. i am in a position where i am being open to discussion about lifestyles i don't quite understand fully. i would like to see if anyone can alter my perception of what is acceptable in our society. i don't want to be one-sided the rest of my life if there is no need for it, if it may be wrong of me. and to brett and db, it is fellas like yourselves that i can respect and learn from. i don't know too many **** persons in my life. you two i respect greatly and have enjoyed your passion in your desire to educate the close-minded. thank you for being yourselves. :)

    I agree with this.
I also am rather limited to who I am around.
I have known some **** people but I do not know any right now. They tend to run in different circles.
Whenever I encounter a homosexual person I treat them with respect and if the opportunity presents itself we may actually talk about life.
Just because I do not understand does not make me a hater.
So what If I do not approve, many of you would not approve of my life. This does not make me want to alter my life for you just the way homosexuals do not want to alter their life to make me happy.

For fear of re-kindling this fire. (better judgement tells me to STFU)

You are not being denied rights, your choice in partners is what is where the problem lies.

But I do not want to stir anymore. (too late)

I will say I have no beef with any of you people. (read=the people in this forum) so I want you to have no beef with me.

Agree with me or dissagree with me but do not take it personally.

It is similar like pollitics I vote for my candidate and you vote for yours.
If we find out we voted the same we high vive or whatever.
If we find out we voted different then we argue to try to change the others viewpoint.

I really should leave this alone, but why hasn't the whold judge/jury point soaked in yet? You don't agree with my being ****, but that doesn't allow you to mandate what rights/benefits I enjoy as a fellow tax paying American citizen.

I'm not asking for your moral stance because as I mentioned before, my morals are not up for your judgement, as yours are not judged by me (or 99.9% of the **** population for that matter). The same cannot be said for a very large part of the straight population.

I honestly can't understand why such a large part of the straight population can't draw the line between not understanding/agreeing with someone's life, and smothering those people's lives with what rules they should be abiding by.

You admittedly don't 'get' **** people, so I'm going to ask that you please stop trying to suggest that most **** people just picked a day to become **** and they've stuck with it. (yes, choice was the wrong word)

The bottom line is, in this country, people are given rights that you may or may not agree with. If you don't agree with firearms, do you judge with the same degree those carrying weapons as those who are ****?

    brettw22,

Your post indicates that we (club polk) are responsible for the laws you do not like or you want to change.
    We (club polk) are not.
The topic comes up on ballets and the people vote.
In our country the majority vote is supposed to decide.
It has not decided in your favor yet.

If we go back a couple of pages we will see that I was saying things like
This is a tool to help desensitize anyone who sees it.

This is not actually a bad thing and I still believe it is true.
Before all the push for "**** rights" there was a push by the other side for "back in the closet"
This back in the closet mentality is going away, it may be too slow for you but I see that there is far more acceptance for the **** population now then there has been ever that I know about.
This change comes on by more and more people being desensitized, not as sensitive or offended by your lifestyle.
As this change continues I feel that you and your peers will get what you are after.
If through all this you changed one mind on this forum you have helped your cause.
If you changed every mind on this forum you still have a long way to go before this nation votes in your favor.

for the nay-sayers....actually something has been realized through all of this. my ignorance, not to be misconstrued with loathing, has never allowed to to see things from the other side of **** marriage. i've fought with hetero's to the point of yelling about the subject, but they were able to shed no light onto the subject. i don't go researching the arguement because it doesn't really affect me positively or negatively right now. brett brought up the whole 'hospitalization' factor and it was a simple and basic idea of which i have never even thought of before this. don't know if it is enough to sway me one way or the other. i'll need time to think more upon the subject, but at least i have input from the other side.

I was never against "civil unions" but I want to keep the term "marriage" for my group. We had it first.
I thought that there was headway toward a legal 'civil union" thing but the **** community wanted it to be called "marriage".
Perhaps I am full of it.

I agree with Bizill that this thread did open my eyes a little.

Not being close to any openly **** people I do not engage in this rhetoric very often but having someone who is arguing on behalf of the other side helps open the mind.

I know I interjected early on, but the only reason for a response to this thread was the accusation that if you don't agree with the act of homosexuality that you're some kind of bigot or homophobe. It's a pile of crap, and that argument has been thoroughly debunked. Those of you who really believe that are as narrowminded as those who would inflict physical violence on someone because of that circumstance. It's ridiculous. Furthermore, for such comments to show up so late in this thread is just hilarious. Are you capable of reading or do you just shoot your mouths off whenenver you think you can get a nice pat on the back with the way the wind is blowing at any given time? Grow up.

This thread has now sunk down into name calling, again. I think this thread actually did have some use, and I still think it does. Isn't it amazing that the 2 openly **** men in this thread haven't diverted to that, but the straight 'non-homophobes' have? I've seen some of you making some pretty rude homosexual jokes here. Ones I wouldn't think of uttering, but I guess that can only be done if we're pals right? That's okay, right? I personally don't agree with some of the comments that have been made by some who are opposed to homosexuality. A lot of the comments are just plain wrong, but there are also some good points being made and they do matter in the context of the debate. I would suggest that if you don't have any interest in social concerns or actual discussion that you keep your nose out of the thread. You're just making yourself look stupid and the side comments are nauseating. Not welcoming someone into their home because of their opinions, amazing. Also incredibly arrogant. I really would like to know where the disconnect is.

Just a question, but do you really think that Bizill, Skynut, Ron-P, or anyone who has expressed an opposing viewpoint, including myself, would ridicule someone because they are ****? Do you think they would make anyone uncomfortable? Do you think they would treat them any differently than anyone else? The answer damn well ought to be no, and I think you all know that. I can't speak for Brett or DB, and I've had my run-ins with Brett before, but damn I sure as hell don't think they'd feel any of the above would act that way either.

I live with 2 people that I couldn't politically be more of an opposite of, and somewhat even socially. They're both good friends and aside from having lived together for the last 2 years we spend nearly every weekend hanging out together. We make it a point not to discuss the issues and still manage to have a hell of a lot of fun together nearly every weekend. On topics like these, more often than not, ideas are not centralized nor are they that of one person. This issue is bigger than any handfull of people here, **** or straight. There are those who care and those who don't. Those of you who don't aren't doing any good here, as was explained above. It's just pot shots and in some cases making yourself look like a complete bafoon.

Personally I find the folks who actually do take the time to talk about this stuff end up being a lot more tolerant than those who don't. They also are better educated. Either you're going to solidify your arguments or you're going to see things in a different way and possibly augment your beliefs.

My thoughts haven't changed since this thread started. I've had the debate before. I don't agree with homosexual acts of either sex. That position doesn't make me a bigot, homophobe, nor does it make me intolerant. I'm not trying to stop it and it doesn't bother me. It's your life, and not mine. When it begins to breech certain barriers is when we might have a problem. Then again, that should be a 2 way street. Much like the tolerance some of you are crying about here. The only opinion that's valid is that of someone who is accepting of the act of homosexuality. That's some nice tolerance there, so much so that someone would barre you from their home for that point of view, nice...

Classy! We can always count on you to add some class to a thread. You're definitely an intellectual heavyweight.

Sorry you're having a bad day, take it out on your speakers and crank some tunes instead of taking it out on everyone else. Your post was hardly light hearted, and you're right, you're definitely one of the people I was speaking to. There's some others too, some of the Senior Stew.

Also, it's rather interesting I have no right to speak on marriage without having been married. I know what marriage means and what it's all about. Does your requirement for that go for **** that are obviously not married as well? After all, what would they know about marriage? What a stupid comment.

    Merry Christmas!

the only persons i will allow to kick me outta this thread are the following:
    myself.
    justin.
    brett.
    danger boy.

if no one else wants to contribute, i ask you kindly to refrain from attacking me. to gregure, from earlier i apologize for sounding a bit like i was trying to intimidate you. intimidation cannot be realized through the likes of internet chat forums. so i save the intimidation factor for those who cross me to my face.

to brett and danger boy, i would like to know if i am offending either of you as it is not my intent to do so. otherwise i feel we are making 'good talk'.

anyone who doesn't wanna contribute positively, then just read and don't post please.

I agree that offending anyone is not what I mean to do also.
I am simply putting my "straight" into this '****' thread.
It has been both thought provoking and enlightening.

Oh god I might be turning ****.
    I knew I shouldn't post here.

I'm going to try my best to decipher that mess of a post as best I can.

    - I'll never be married.
    - I don't want to be married.
    - No wait I do want to be married, just because.
    - You're supporting Brett & Al.
    - Everyone else is assaulting them.
    - You're classy until **** show up.
    - **** with a political agenda.
    - Me and John would be a could pair. (by pair do you mean buddy buddy or
buddy buddy, buddy? I'm too much of a homophobe to tell, don't
want to catch that '****' bug going around.)

First off, I have every intention of getting married to the right woman for me. I have no intention of getting married now, at all. I don't want children now, but I will have them. I'm also going to shove my personal political agenda down their throats too. I'm going to do it just to annoy you!

I don't see anyone assaulting Al or Brett. Nice choice of words you used too. They may not like what's being said, but assaulted? It's been a pretty nice little discussion until a few tools showed up.

Also, can you show me my political rant in this thread? Keep in mind, you don't need to read it. If you do read it you don't have to respond. All you're doing is making your self look like a simplistic little crybaby.

You should proofread some of the dumb comments you make so they at least make some sense.

like demi said his last post, this was a nice thread before a select few showed up and perverted it with their rants and name-calling. i still have yet to hear brett or db tell me i have offended them. sorry if you tolerant momos feel that i'm a bad representative for the heterosexual community. i am no leader. i am only myself. one conscious. i'd like to add that brett and db are holding their own and don't need your help.
