Wow, nice first half, a slittle sloppy at times, but overall very entertaining. We have the score 17-7 in favor of Troy. Ode made the last second FG, but gross plagerization of a nationally sydicated talk show host and trying to sound original and clever with it cost him field position and ultimately the points at the end of the first half.

Let's hope both teams regroup a bit and come out fired up for the second half!

Let's review where this all started....with YOU.
Matt could fly to my house and hook it up for me and I still wouldn't pay $269 for it. They should be giving them for free just like they give away free satellite dishes and cell phones, the money is in the subscriptions.

Do you think that maybe that wasn't the smartest thing to post on the Polk forum? The rest of us do as you've not only insulted Mr. Polk, but most of the other good folks here (except deepdodo), so you should have expected the reaction you got. Besides that, your logic has serious flaws which have been pointed out numerous times by numerous people. In short, you're trolling.
Anytime you want my address just send me a PM, big boy, I'm easy access from Hartsfield airport.

Again, YOU offered and I asked. YOU have yet to follow thru.....just more hot air I suppose.
Apparently it isn't I have at least 2 people willing to fight over it. Maybe we can have a Georgia Polkfest and they can fly down, we can sell tickets and raffle off a signed XM tuner. The beating will be no charge.

More trolling and a serious threat posted on a public forum. You're one smart bubba.

This isn't a yahoo chat room or some porno forum F1, even if we do use screen names the vast majority of posters are people who bought and registered Polk products. Our names and contact information are readily available to anyone who wants to go through the trouble of finding them. So you sit there and play tough guy hiding behind your pc, obviously forum rules only apply to people with fewer than X number of posts.

More implied threats. Keep swinging. I do find it funny that you keep trying to take the role of the victim when in fact, the opposite is true, you are nothing more than a shameful troll. I'm not wasting anymore of my time feeding you.

deepdodo, I can't say it any better than what Shack and Ohskigod said, so study those posts and maybe you'll get it one day. I have my doubts.

I....uhhh....I have a question. Am I going to get banned for fighting and making physical threats when I was volunteered against my knowledge to do so?

How did I get dragged into this anyway? I have my tuner and I'm keeping it. It means alot to me to get such an item and I will hold on to it for eternity. The gesture was of incredible magnitude and I am eternally greatful for it. I could really use the $300 I could get for the tuner right now (tires for a Lightning are expensive!) but it's the gesture and sentiment that means way more than any monetary value. Hell, it's something for me to hold on to that is a representation of an experience I had at one point in my life. There is no way I could put any monetary value on my own memories. I'm not selling it, giving it away or doing anything with it until I have the money to sign up for the service. Until then, it sits in original packing, on my shelf in my closet until the day it can realize its utilization. Then it will be a source for the SDA's with the signed radiators that will probably not leave my possesion until I die either. Thanks Polk Audio, I just wish I could get to using it sooner!

As far as my height, why would anyone think I was taller than 5 foot 7? I never said I was anything else. I'm sorry I'm not a giant like the rest of the folks here but I'm not a midget either.

Ah, this whole thread has turned uncool, I guess it should only follow suit that others get to cause problems for me with people I don't even know. Thanks a bunch folks, I appreciate it!

Lastly, ode, you have a real twisted view about how a free market works and just economics in general. You already dug yourself a real deep grave with the "holier than thou" attitude just because others here are more willing to adopt new technology than you are. Your entire argument is based on personal opinion and your facts come solely from the consumer side of the free market and that is barely even 1/4 of teh entire free market picture. Maybe you should head back to ECON101 and get a refresher on how capitalism actually works before trying to argue effectivly and failing miserably. I'm all for a good debate provided both sides have an inkling of the topic that is being discussed and it doesn't get nasty. I'm sorry to say ode that you are woefully mistaken on alot of points. It would probably be best to just let this thread die and either move on or let the heat die down a bit and try starting over later on.

The funniest thing is that the XM tuner part of the unit is probably the cheapest system in the unit to make. Everything else, including the power supply and DA converter are what drives the price up. The higher the quality of the components, the higher the price of the components. It also follows suit that the end product of the combination of those higher qulaity, more expensive parts would also be of higher quality but consequently more expensive too. You get what you pay for...unless you're a Bose customer. I digress though. I can probably build an XM tuner for less than $50 in parts but that doesn't mean it's going to be exactly like the Polk tuner. It will probably sound like total crap too. It certainly won't have the flashy cover and fancy blinking lights and scrolling marquees either. Bottom line is that people have been making power transformers since the late 1800's when we actually started using electrical power in houses and such. DA converters have been around since the advent of computers and using transisters in boolean logic circuits instead of vaccum tubes. That happened in the 1950's. So how do you feel now about buying all of that "new" technology, ode? Hasn't really gone down in price either. So have fun with all those millions you are saving by living in the technological stone age.

I have an Indian fetish because I called you cochise? Using YOUR logic, being from Georgia you must be fat and stupid. How's that?

Well you wouldn't be too far from the truth. Georgia does lead the nation in % of the population that is obese and they are 50th in SAT scores. Lucky for me I wasn't born here, I'm a corporate transplant. As for the rest my bad, I thought you were chatting with me I missed all of Cochise's posts.
No, 120 a year, I don't find objectionable. If you do, again, that's YOUR issue. Personally, I think FM blows. The reception is spotty and way too many commercials. If it's something I enjoy and I can afford it, I'll pay for it. Now, if your just a person who refuses to pay for anything, well, that's your bag, baby. I bet you are a real hoot to hang out with. I mean, why go to a nice restaurant when you can just plate the eff up at Ryans Mega Bar, right?

Personally I think FM is background noise, just like AM, something that is on while I'm doing something else. It's ok in a car, when I'm at home it's easier to throw on a cd full of mp3's no commercials decent sound (thanks to my Polk R15's and an old sub I had sitting around). I pay for my ISP, it's something that I like. I don't pay for cable, for the price of cable I rent all the movies I have time to watch and it's a movie I choose, not HBO. I pay for nice restaurants with the money I don't waste on audio improvements that will be imperceptible to anything but the eyes looking at the nifty pieces of gear.

Before anyone starts another flame thread over that so-and-so Ode saying that his R50's are just as good as (insert whatever megaboss piece of equipment you want here) I'm not. I believe in price points for equipment, if you do your homework and throw together a nice $10k system and Joe blow next door does the same with different equipment it's not going to sound that much better, just different. I've reached my price point and anything I could buy to replace one component isn't going to substantially change anything unless I move up to a higher price point. To some people that's their life's joy and more power to them. I'm happy with what I have.
    Ode wrote:
You only have to "dump excess inventory" when nobody will buy it. I will stand by my original statement, thank you
That's just simply not true. It's so preposterous as to not even warrant a response. While the amount of the discount will vary the same logic still applies (there is that logic thing again)....lemme ask you this, when the auto companies were offering 'employee pricing' why do you think it was only for '05 models?

Because nobody was buying GM cars and it happened in '05. Do you really think they are offering massive incentives because they just want to make room for next year's model? When GM did it and it worked people started buying GM cars and stopped buying Fords, which made Ford also offer employee pricing. Now Mitsubishi is offerng thousands in free gas because nobody was buying their cars. Cars are a never ending cycle of trying to entice people with gimmicks. Employee pricing came about because 0 percent financing stopped working and 0 percent came because Rebates stopped working. The "end date" has been extended several times already and it will extend right into the 06 year if that's what it takes to keep the product moving.

Now that I've answered your question perhaps you can explain why GM doesn't offer employee pricing on '05 Corvettes even though the '06 models are on the way?
And sit around listening to your R50's and HK receiver and antenna TV? That would be a real hootenany. I'm sure we'd be partying like the Kennedy's.

I don't have an antenna but if you come I'll make sure I get the finest antenna WalMart has to offer, just for your enjoyment.

I work a lot of hours during the week but I'm almost always free on weekends, let me know when you want to visit and I'll give you my cell phone number so I can pick you up at the airport. I love company, especially people who like audio stuff. And this is so much easier than heading down to the local bar. cheaper too.

You shouldn't worry about me. I have no desire to waste my time on you and I am also a bit above playing goon for anyone here. It's really not worth it. You shouldn't worry about anyone else here either. This whole address and fighting thing is a bunch of silly macho posturing. I highly doubt that anyone here would take the time and money needed to arrive at your front door or in your general vicinity to do any harm to you. The best deterent is that there is a documented trail of intent to do harm right here in this forum. That's jail time for sure and if anyone did do something, a decent lawyer could prove that there was intent to murder and really screw someone over.
