I hope that when things settle down in a few months that these photos will be used by the authorities to track these people down.

These photos also remind me of why I am a gun owner.

Okay, the people stealing the football and Nikes and unneccessary items, yes, thats bad and wrong.

But, I could see myself, being in their shoes, stealing food and items needed to you know, survive. I'm not down their myself, so I could be wrong, but do they even have the option of buying something at the store? Aren't all the stores pretty much out of commission? I'm sure there is another way, but at least food and maybe clothing I could understand.

What a sad commentary on human (I'm being very generous with the term human, here) behavior. I can understand the poor going after food, shelter and clothing, but where the **** are they going to plug in the tv or stereo, or for that matter even pawn the POSs that are probably ruined by moisture in the first place.

Have any of you guys seen the SECURITY GUARDS looting the Wal-Mart ON Camera with all the other SCUM? I think it was on Fox's website. I'll link when I get home if I can find it, might have been on MSN as well. They said "Just doing my job."

WTF? And what about these little **** riding down the isles on bikes with squirt guns? Martial Law and start dropping every one of these worthless fu*ks

Those cops were supposedly taking meds, first aid supplies, and food and water, like they have every right to do. Wal-Mart and other merchants have that agreement with municipalities throughout the country, but they are also supposed to list what they took.

I'm sure that Wal Mart won't even be scarred by all of this, but the small business owners will be all but detroyed.

those photos are a fine example of 'para journalism'- they serve one purpose only- and that's to form public opinion. I'll bet anyone here that at least half (if not more) of the looters are going after food and water.

Maybe I am in the minority, but even for food and clothing - it is still stealing. There are shelters set up not far from where these stores are. If your family needs food and water, get them somewhere with actual help and get your life started again. Dont sit them in a house full of water and say hey the bread is wet with lake water, but it was free.....

You not having something does not give you the right to take it from someone who does without permission. (thanks for teaching me that one mom...)

What are these losers teaching their children? If you can get away with it, its ok? You shouldn't provide for yourself, just take what you need from those that have it.

I know it sounds extreme and there may be extenuating circumstances that I don't know or understand, but you do what you have to for yourself and your family and live with the consequences.

When these people start getting shot for stealing a loaf of bread I bet their family will be standing in line to talk to the press about how they had no choice in the matter. They all have choices, but none of them will accept that responsibility. It will end up not with people walking out of a store with what does not belong to them, but walking out of a courtroom.

Damn shame. It is people like this, that make me, as a "black" person feel ashamed. There is no way I would be going to get stuff that was not beneficial to my kids survival. If the store was a grocery store, then maybe I would take some food if I had no choice but to do so, to feed my kids. But Nike shoes? WTF? I am ashamed. I guess they want to play BasketBall after the water goes down. Each and every one of these A$$holes needs to catch a charge of some sort after this is over. People are dead, and these SOBs are looting. All I can say is "it is a damn shame." :(

The problem is there is no food or water at any of these shelters. There are people dying in the shelters. While I would not be stealing nike's and jewlery, I sure would be stealing peanut butter and water. I would be keeping a running tab and I would offer to pay the stores I stole from when the whole thing was over if I could. But if my 3 year old daughter is hungry and the only way I can get food for her is to break into a grocery store, that's what I am going to do.

Can we please stop acting like the MAJORITY here are people stealing peanutbutter and bread so they don't die of starvation? It's been 4 days now and the looting started on Monday. What was the excuse then? The MAJORITY of the folks who would be taking the peanutbutter and bread for legitimate purposes are the same people who left town over the weekend.

I don't think the people that are jacking the shoes and jerseys really think they are doing anything wrong, but then again....that might be looking at the root at the problem and nobody really wants to do that.

They do have the right to in these kinds of circumstances, if and only if they are police or firefighters and doing so in an emergency situation like this. I was also referring to the post that mentioned the lady cops, not your security guards. :)

Ah, I'll definitely have to find the video. These 2 Security Guards were in a Wal-Mart with all the other looting going on and they had all sorts of non-medical related crap in their little carts.

The "real" looters are losers yes.... But the people if any that need food, water and such have not much choice.. We arent in their shoes and in 20ft of water, their kids are thinking "I get to eat today" These are extreme conditions and people act very different under these tense extreme conditions.. shoot the looters but people going to get food, clothes and water enough for thier family need to get a break.. Yes it is stealing in all aspects but if you would rather starve your children then "steal" then you may need to re-think your priorities.... AGAIN, I'm not for the thugs and real looters reaking havoc by no means.. Some of those places available with water aren't any where near the bad parts of town.. Just my 02 cents

No the people who left over the weekend, HAVE money and wouldn't be taking it anyways... The people (some i'll assume) who stayed had nothing much to start with and now have Nothing at all...

This forum has been fired up the last few days about all this.. Some people have started some real good helpful threads, charity, offers to help these people... If i could right now i would send something.. But all these threads bickering over something we know nothing about first hand is rediculous.. Lets lighten up on the subject, we all are a bunch of strong opinionated people ME included... lets talk about how to help

    Oh please,
Taking food and clothing after such an incident is survival, not stealing. These people kept these stores in business when things were good and now that they are in dire straits they are taking what they need to survive.

Remember, even the rich ones may not have a penny they can access. The football? Well, it was probably sitting next to the football jerseys...

I'm pretty sure that my dictionary has no special stipulations for when 'taking what is not yours' is not stealing. Nor does the Bible, as far as I know.

Tough situation, for sure. I can't say what I'd do, as I don't know.

If I'm a store owner, you can bet your **** that I'm going to take care of people WITHOUT them thinking they're entitled to the goods that are NOT necessary for survival.

McLoki, you are right, it is still stealing. But it is justified as long as they replace what they took when they can either item for item or for cash value. This goes for food and necessities only.
