John, I can't understand why nut flavors would do any harm. Even peanut butter should be fine (not chunky). It's eating them whole or in pieces that triggers it because the small pieces get stuck in the pockets.

At least that is what was explained to me. Eating real fiber and not just some fiber supplement or pill, along with plenty of water is your friend.

I am usually faithful to the fiber but I can only take drinking so much water.

    Tom

I like the satisfying crunch from whole cashews, ballpark-style peanuts, almonds and the rest. Paste and butter forms are not comparable.

Hey, it's an alternative to keep it at bay. Didn't say you would like it. I could snack on a pound or two of whole roasted, salted cashews in one sitting but with everything.....moderation.

In our case....followed by a metric S ton of fiber and an Olympic sized glass of water.

Man I eat whole Cashews, Almonds, chunky peanut butter, peanuts, sunflower seeds. I've never had a problem. I do eat lots of other crunchy stuff too. Celery, carrots and raw broccoli as well.
I'm more of a dark chocolate man myself eat a ton of that.

Me, too. I love them so much, sometimes I forget to chew. Haven't had it cause any diverticulitis reoccurrences. As @treitz3 espouses, fiber is your friend.

High fiber when recovered, avoid during acute disease
    Avoid seeds peanuts popcorn

Limit the amount of different things you eat. Basically if you can go all meat for a while, maybe that will help clear it all the way up.
Definitely stay away from processed foods and sugar.

Hope you get better soon my friend.

I had a major relapse this weekend. I don’t know what I ate. I was flat on my back Saturday Sunday, as the nausea, vomiting and the runs kicked in. Most of Monday and a good chunk of Tuesday were spent laying on the floor. It was only yesterday that I started to feel a little better and today I’m back to about 50% of my usual self, I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow to go in and see what he can figure out. All I can say is if this has been a brutal three weeks I’ve never felt anything like this in my life and I pray to God nobody else ever does.

That sucks dude. Must be an intestinal bacterial infection. My grandfather used to tell me that chewing tobacco and apparently swallowing it will kill it. I had this once when I went back to Iowa. Was pretty sure I was going to die. My mother drove me to the emergency room. Every bump in the road was excruciating. The ER physician asked me if I'd been to any foreign countries recently. I asked him if Iowa qualified. He just shot me up with a bunch of morphine and gave me some other stuff I don't remember after that.

Let me know if you want me to send you a pack of Redman Chew.
