Well ever since the Cary SLP-05 drama, and the EAR 834L drama, and VTL, and Bottlehead, etc., who says their is no drama with tube equipment? :)

And with some encouragement from fellow Polkies (you know who you are!), I've been on a bit of a 6SN7 binge as of late. But as most of you know, it's tough to find a pair, or quad, or octet for that matter, of matched tubes.

So IMO you gotta piecemeal your way to a balanced set.

What better way to do that (yeah I know their are a few reputable, trusted sellers out there), but to check the tubes yourself!

So I took the plunge! Did a bit of research, listened to advice here on CP, and I decided to get the venerable and trustworthy Hickock TV tester!

This one is a first gen, refurbished and re-calibrated, and a great deal, so tube checking here I go! :)
