We got well over a foot of rain. Folks in our area and to the west of me are in really bad shape. I am hearing horror stories from those South of us.

One of my friends has a couple of crushed cars and a tree in and on the front of his house.

The stories coming from Florida are just so sad to hear about. Communication is dismal and spotty at best.

Cell phone towers are out, we have no power, water, internet (I am at a Lowes parking lot 15 miles away from home typing this) or cable. Thankfully, we do have a generator but we are bored to death.

At least we still ha e our cars and house. Both made it through unscathed.

And up next is Milton this one looks to be the biggest and badest of the year. Looks like this one will be devastating to the Tampa area which is still cleaning up from last storm

Has anyone heard why it will go from a CAT 4, down to a CAT 3 right before landfall?

Still a bit early and the front coming through is weak, but hopefully it has bearing on it’s strength

Weather here has been freaking spectacular since Friday. We had some frost this morning, though -- 34 degrees when I got up this morning.
Of course, next weekend's the big leaf peeper weekend up here, but this weekend was pretty darned good in the Upper Valley.

I heard that wind shear as Milton approaches will weaken it somewhat. We can hope.

Katrina was a CAT 5 before it weakened to a strong CAT 3 before landfall in just a single day.

It's no longer able to draw as much heat and moisture from the water. The outer bands are drawing in cooler and dryer air from over land.

Thank you. It being a relatively slow mover may be a good thing. As it leaves the West Coast of Florida, I see that they are still forecasting it to be a CAT 1 hurricane. With a large swath as well.

Beautiful day in Georgia. Most of the leaves have fallen except for a some still hanging into a few white oaks. Now I can see the real headache that will keep me busy this winter. Sweet Gum spiky balls! Cursed things! My last house only had one of these trees. My current house has five and counting. Last year, there was hardly any to clean up. This year will be a bumper crop of these pain in the arse things.

I've never been much of a bare feet in the yard type, but I hate how they roll under your shoes and twist your ankle, especially on slopes.
