My guess is Sabang, We Island northern Indonesia. Part of Aceh Prrovince which gained some self governance from the rest of Indonesia after the tsunami and instituted sharia law. Who I think has recently expanded that to pertain to non muslims as well. Maybe not the hot bed as some other places, but still some strong links to some that should not have a guided missle at thier disposal. If that is what happened. With all the conflicting news, I think there is some government mis-information going on, and they have a pretty good idea where it is, but do not want the ones in control of the plane to know that they do.

Yeah, I did just cut and paste it....just to make a quick point but I'm always up for discussion. Go ahead, debate away. You obviously took offense to me saying radical muslims have taken up shop in Indonesia, still want to stick to that or do you have something else in mind ?

One thing to note is all the info coming out....a lot isn't verifiable so we are all just speculating.

Craziest story in a long time...No evidence that it crashed, and no evidence that it landed. Can anyone think of a good reason that transponders should simply be able to be switched off?

Could be that the crew is in on it... transponders turned of no radio comms.. could be a highly coordinated effort to snatch this plane and it's passengers ... but you would think that there would be some clue or response from those responsible... Almost sounds like they were scooped up by an alien mothership... very bizarre indeed.

The other thing to consider is that you don't know if these governments are telling us everything...

You know, you're right. Those crazy Muslim radicals figured out how to carve a landing field for a 777 right out of mountainous, dense forest. Right now, as a matter of fact, they're building a pipeline to carry jet fuel from... oh, hell, let's say Saudi Arabia.

Who said they'd land in a dense forest ? Color me confused because obviously....you can't. If that was in reference to Indonesia being mostly dense forest, then yeah, I'll agree there but other parts of the area have old landing strips, maybe on the island, maybe not. Maybe close by...maybe not. I've seemed to have lost my secret decoding ring of all the locations of old landing strips built during wartime in the area. Maybe you know some ? Eh, if so....the landing strip will have to be a good three quarters mile long. I would also assume viewable from Satellite pics of the area. Which disclosing these landing strips isn't going to be top priority for any governments involved. Wouldn't you agree ?

The plane doesn't have to necessarily LAND in Indonesia. Could land elsewhere, maybe taken by an Indonesian radical group, maybe the people alone taken there, who knows at this point. Like I said, all speculation but me thinks somebody knows more than they are letting on.

The problem with the theft scenario is this... the 777 would require an improved runway(paved) at least 7500 feet long in order to take off again with a moderate to heavy load. If it was landed on a dirt runway, it is likely the plane would be unable to fly again, as the damage to wheels/undercarriage and engines would be significant to catastrophic. This would lead me to the conclusion that whoever is behind this would need a state-sponsor, or have control over a military facility.

Why do you bother ? Good question, all I know is you asked for some thoughtful debate. I said knock your socks off, I'm game...and your idea of thoughtful debate is the idiocy of landing a plane in a forest ? Don't need much thought to do the math on that one my friend.

Kinda don't know exactly what the issue is to debate anyway. Plane is missing, we all speculate....even have Aliens involved...LOL. Nothing to debate until the truth comes out. I thought you had something else in mind but that's cool, don't want to wander off on another subject anyway in this thread. I'd be more than happy to debate anything you care to however if you want to start another thread. I'm very accommodating like that.

Good thought there John, let me ask you this....can this plane be refueled in the air ? I don't know, just asking. There's still the possibility they are all fish food right now too but god I hope not.

only requires 3500 ft to land from a 777 pilot. and could take off from same with reduced load... no passengers luggage and reduce fuel load.

Basically, the aircraft would be empty in that case. If they wanted full tanks and maximum load, the weight of the plane would be 250000 pounds heavier, and distances would increase significantly. If the plan is to weaponize this bird, it almost requires a nation-state to be behind the effort.

The commercial 777 has no in-flight refueling capabilities Tony.

That was me, and I did not say anyone carved a runway out of the forrest.

Google map Sabang and zoom in, you will see a 6000+ ft paved runway in a pretty remote area on We Island. Somewhat in line with some of the reported, and denied headings after the supposed course change. I have no inside line on anything just speculating along with the alian speculators. As many have said we have no idea and it does not look like we are getting all, or all valid info from the sources that do have info avail. to them..

I think we can safely assume that if the plane has landed somewhere that the passengers are no longer with us. And starting a regional war over the death of the Chinese passengers might be someone's goal. In scenarios such as this, I wonder what Putin would do?

I want to know why the pilots can turn off the transponder?
With our history of planes across the world wouldn't it be a constant so it cannot be shut off for just this reason.
I can't turn the dinger off on my seatbelt in my car but these people can shut off the electronic lifeline to a couple/300 people.

In the event that wreckage of the plane is found in the vast expanse of the Indian Ocean, I will then know that the source of such reporting is part of the conspiracy that landed the plane on weh island.

The smart thing to do is abduct a large group of people and clone them. One day those people will show up randomly in society, but won't have any scars from previous surgeries. Clones! Those clones will procreate with humans and will take up prominent and powerful positions in society. And if the government had proof the aliens were behind the missing plane, they would never disclose that information. Think what it would do to religious groups that believe that we are the only beings that exist. That's why the government will never admit what happened in Roswell.

WSJ is reporting that communications were indeed shut down manually....and at different times. Also that the plane likely flew 5 hours, not 4. Nobody hijacks a plane to crash it into the ocean, this puppy is on the ground somewhere, maybe even refueled and in the air again....who knows. Still think Israel is the end target. The Malaysian government has been so wishy washy, sending rescuers to the east when I believe they knew it was taken to the west.

We have India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, all within reach. Ya think there might be a terrorist cell or two in those area's ? We sent a destroyer to the Indian ocean....betcha it's not to look for wreckage either. Crap is going down and it's a race now to stop it....assuming of course they want to stop it. This isn't going to end well I fear.
