The news this AM said the cell phones are rining and showing that they are on line or show up as on the web. Verry strange.

Was reading some B.S. today, some suggested an EMP blast, knocking out all communications, engines, gauges. Pilot may have tried to turn around and just glided down....somewhere.

Don't know if I'd go that far, unless it was by mistake that happened. The passenger manifest will determine if anyone could have been a target, but I'm doubting that right now. Who would go through that much to get to one person, kill 240 people in the process ? The sinister conspiracy theorists are out on this one. Sometimes the most simple explanation is the correct one.

Reuters is reporting that Malaysia military radar tracked the plane heading west about 350 miles, and decending 1000 ft. Hadn't thought of the possability of stealing the plane for some sinister use later, as nooshinjohn mentioned. My tin foil hat tells me it was the co-pilot. Disabled the pilot, turned off the transponder and flew to a landing strip somewhere in Indonsia. He is a prime age to have been radicalised, and a relative short time with the airline. Been with them as a sleeper waiting for orders.

At this point all we can do is wait for the official word,............then decide if we believe it or not.

I'm starting to think someone already knows what happened, and is simply buying time to figure out how to spin it or cover some asses.

    I'm inclinded to agree.

The latest news is that the Malaysian air force is saying the plane was last tracked hundreds of miles off course and flying very low.
    And the mystery deepens...

The aircraft would have a range of over 7000 nautical miles if fully fueled, but I do not know how the lower altitude would have affected fuel use. Given that they burned through 2 hours worth of fuel and that the trip was roughly 6 hours in the air, they could have flown to just about anywhere withing a 1500 mile radius of their last known position.

    Really?? Aliens??

Let's face it....we all know it was the wormhole. The 777 will reappear 10 years from now over Malaysia . The crew and the passengers will all be safe except that they have not aged one single day.

That will be my guess and I'll be sticking to it until they find any wreckage.

Where the hell did it go? An aircraft the size of a Boeing 777 just does NOT evaporate into thin air.
I think its pretty obvious. Three massive air fronts at very high velocities created by global warming came head to head and crushed the plane into smithereens, no more than dust left.

I know my cell phone can be found via my phone's id and my connection to my service. You'd think a spy satellite could easily pick up a cell id, id's could be made available through the passenger manifest and contacting the provider. Must be a couple hundred phones on that plane. Or has my Canadian brain been frozen by prolonged exposure to the polar vortex?

So the mystery thickens! I think they know a lot more than is being released. There are a lot of places a 777 can land, fewer that it can take off from, at least loaded. If they know where it actually went, then I wouldn't want them giving what happened away, until whatever special forces unit(s) are coordinated and ready to go in.

If it landed intact the next goal is to find a 1.5 mi landing strip

Not sure this much was needed. Depending on runway conditions, weight, wind and altitude the 777-200 suggests anywhere from 2800 - 5800 ft. to land. Remember the 747 Dreamlifter that landed at the wrong airport not long ago. They put that down on a 6100 ft. runway. If I can believe what I read the suggested runway length for landing is 7000 ft. Not sure what kind of shape they could be in, but there are probably a few B29 air fields from WWII around there somewhere.

Looks like the Malaysian Air Force is trying to walk back their statement about the possibility of a heading change that would have had the 777 fly back across the country and into an area referred to as the Malacca Strait. Plane crashes and the resulting loss of life is always a horrible way to die, but I can only imagine what the families must be going through...

Malacca Straits, or how about the Bungo Straits ? Could be that Bungo Pete is up to mischief with the Akikaze again.

IMO, this plane is sitting on the ground somewhere, with Indonesia as a good possibility.

I'm going to go with a much more vanilla guess and say the electronics had a critical failure, hence the complete lack of communication after a certain point. This led to the pilots turning around and crashing somewhere.

Someone had to take the boring guess.

I tend to agree, at least I hope so for the sake of all those onboard. Indonesia is a hot bed of radical Muslim wackado's. Malaysian Air Force walking back previous statements simply throws more fuel on the fire that something doesn't smell right with this whole thing. The time spent, effort, cost, of going on this massive wild goose chase....a lot of people are going to be pretty pissed off. Maybe the Malaysian government should be investigated, it's becoming more apparent they know more than they are letting on, or are simply that incompetent.
