So the pic Jimbo18 posted has a replacement for the passive right?? I've always seen the flat passive, or is my ignorance of vintage Polks showing.

If so, what else has he replaced and what is the real value there.

    Thanks,

It seems as though prices for all Monitors are high in NC. I normally see 5s for $100, 7s for $250 and 10s for $350 on Clist. I know that is just the asking price but they still seem high. All seem to be in avg-good condition, nothing outstanding.

I've seen a lot of overpriced Monitor speakers lately. $300-$500 for anything from Monitor 5's to 10's. And for some reason, they just ain't selling. Wonder why...

You are correct on that. The people around NC and SC that have these old Polk's seem to think they are made of gold. I just recently got some 5jr's for $80. People talk about seeing cheap Polk's on CL but I never do. When I do see a decent deal I usually get on it right away! ;)

Eh, I know the stuff I list on CL I always leave a LOT of wiggle room in. I know on CL folks are normally going to try and beat you up on price. By listing high I can still come down so it looks like I am working with them on price, and still get around what I "actually" want....

Hence why its a GOOD thing you cant see the Flea Market ads since normally I list things there for what I "actually" want to get out of it.

I am one of those that if I list any of my Polks they will be listed HIGH. The reason is that I do not really want to get rid of them but if someone is willing to come close to what I list at, well... it would then be worth it to me. If i ever get in need of getting rid of them it will be a different story but until then it's like I was always told by my dad growing up when i asked him what something was worth. The worth of something is determined by the seller and or the purchaser. It is nearly always an individual figure for an individual person. It is nice however to have an idea of possible resale value when making a purchase, just in case you decide it isn't for you.

Mr. Bubbles- I think you're very nearly close to the truth. I lean a little more towards the purchaser determining the price. For example, there's a nice set of SDA SRS's for sale on Ebay in Virginia right now. He had them up for $3100, but made no sale. He's made two price cuts in the last few weeks. Someone may emerge to make him an offer at some point- that will be the market finally speaking to the seller. A sale will be concluded when both parties accept the terms. For me, it boils down to this: a thing is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. By the way, are you getting tired of your 1.2TL's??

Not getting tired of my 1.2 TL's at all. I just haven't been able to really listen much due to so many other things demanding my attention over the past year or so. So in that respect I haven't been enjoying them as much as I used to. However I have come to terms with the fact that I don't really need both the 1.2TL's and the SRS along with the other speakers that I also deem keepers and like to rotate in and out of use. So I have posted mine on a few occassions for what I figured I would take if someone did indeed want to pay that much for them. No one has bitten and that's fine as I don't really want to sell them. I guess in my case I have determined the value by figuring they are worth more to me than what a purchaser would pay me for them. (at least in most cases so far). Another point of note is that I generally enjoy the SRS a little more. I recently made a trade for an Aragon amp and I guess i will be needing to build an interface or dreadnaught to be able to use that amp with the 1.2TL's since the SRS will not accept an amp like that in any way.

Yes, but those are not pictures of the actual speakers the seller is advertising. Seller said they are "like" photos of similar models. Notice how the floor is different under each photo- these are internet downloads taken from previous online listings. Deafbykhorns has seen them in person. Trust him.
