I'm sorry guys, one of my daughters woke up crying, so I had to run before she woke up one of the other ones. Its a shame, because you were finally able to get onto our team. I'll try to get on again tonight if you guys are available. Around the same time, 9ish EST.

I may not be able to play tonight during your EST time, but I'll try to catch up w/ you guys tomorrow + Friday.

I played a few round on the PC later last night and man it was frustrating ... that Metro map in particular w/ all the foliage. Always someone hiding somewhere. I need a better desk too. My keyboard and mouse are on 2 different levels.

Perhaps that's my next upgrade ;)

I played a couple rouinds last night. Aside from the graphical glitches and a poor choice for a release map, I think the game is decent. You gotta remember this is just an Alpha build. They took an alpha build and made it an "open beta" release.

The game feels a little like you're running on ice. Movements aren't super precise. But, again, I think that has to do with it being such an early build. I don't like how each individual gun for each faction has to be upgraded individually.

I've finally gotten the hang of this map. Been crushing people, on defense especially. If I'm online, don't heistate to join me, Spliff7 on 360. I'm always playing solo.

Don't cancel those orders yet guys, the best is yet to come. 20 days and counting....

well it is for the 360, not sure about the pc version. Haven't read much on it as I won't be playing on PC. And as how they have a couple maps and vehicles I'm going to assume the PC "beta" might actually be a beta build.

I tried a few rounds last night on xbox. The audio is pretty awesome. Gameplay reminded me of BC2 obviously. But the graphics are awful. I understand its supposedly an alpha build, but wow. I could barely make out the enemy at times, depending on where I was on the map.

I'll try to play with y'all sometime this week. But as of now, I'll still wait to see the final release before deciding to buy or not.

See, when I play this game I don't think the graphics are that bad at all. Maybe I just don't expect as much as you guys do. BFBC2 just blew me away in graphics and sounds. And I don't think BC3 is much behind that in this "beta" build.

I don't have any problem seeing people, bullets, laser lights or tacticle lights. The rooms aren't to dark. The only problems I have are on the A station on phase 1 where u can go under, and actually get stuck, the ground. I know there are more spots like that around the map but that one seems to be the worst to me. But supposedly that is fixed in the actual game.

There are all kinds of reports on what kind of graphics card(s) you need to run on ultra. People are running the beta in ultra on a 6950 but who knows what the graphics will be like come release. I'm hoping my 6950's will do the job seeing as how I just bought them not that long ago.

Played for about an hour and a half tonight. I like the way the game play feels. But the visuals really are horrendous. I think the PS2 had some games that looked better. Whoever thinks this game has great lighting hasn't played anything else in the last 4 years......

I may end up picking it up just for a change of pace.

I'm now holding off due to the reviews on graphics. If it's that bad, why bother. More Gears of War 3 it is then.

I agree about the graphics, but everyones forgetting this is just a beta. Bad company 2 looks better than this, so why would this game look worse when its more than a year old and supposed to be a bigger release?

Caspian Border is open for the rest of the demo weekend, it blows the doors off Operation Metro.

I read a post from a developer today stating that the build we are playing is a month behind; that's not as much as they tried to make it out to be. Betas rarely vary far from their final look, so don't expect much different. I would be OK with BC2 looks, but I think we are out of luck. The new engine variant just doesn't seem to scale as well.

I will be around some tonight too

Well, I'd guess there's some tradeoff on graphics and performance - the more that is going on, the more of a slowdown you're going to see. Especially if they're going to have vehicles and planes and whatnot for the console versions. Something probably has to give.

+1 on what tommyboy mentioned about it being a beta version. After reading the Wall Street Journal's Tech Europe article by Patrick Bach, producer at DICE,he was a bit disappointed in his work on BBC2, but a number of people(including me!) who bought the game, loved it. He's his own worst critic and according to him, the new Frostbite 2 technology used in Battlefield 3 should be an improvement. I might throw caution to the wind and buy a few ERTS shares of stock and see how the game sells.

Since it's going back to the BF2 and BF2142 style, I think it should sell well. The graphics were good on those games considering how huge some of the maps were - and once you're playing it's not really something you're that worried about.

You guys act like just because the graphics arent picaso-esque it somehow takes away from the gaming experience. 12v12 on console can be hectic enough, I can't even imagine 32v32 on pc. I think that graphics would be the last of my concern when I have 32 sob's firing an assortment of projectiles at my head

No one said we expected stellar graphics due to map size and such, but it shouldn't be awful either.

It's mostly because they've hyped the graphics so much for this title... and repeatedly said they were going to best Modern Warfare 3. Honestly, based on the beta, they didn't even best Modern Warfare 1. They've talked up their new engine, the destructability, etc. but the graphics on display here just don't bear that out. They certainly don't seem complex enough to have the game running at 30fps on consoles.

I'm glad they put a beta out though... Took my pre-order off and got a used copy of Dead Island instead. If I see in the initial reviews that there's a massive improvement over the beta, maybe I'll still jump in... but overall, I don't think they did themselves any favors by showing something this bad looking after all their hype.

Let's hope this addresses the graphical issues... but they're still saying their game looks better than their competitors. That's the hype I'm talking about. With games like Rage out there looking so jaw-droppingly amazing at 60fps, they better hope the final product shows it.

Good gaming last night fellas. I don't know why I have such a hard time joining the same team, but sometimes its fun hunting you guys down:wink:.I will try to be on again tonight but like last night nothing is certain... but i will try to since the beta will be done tomorrow.

Has anyone seen any pre-order deals for the game? I usually grab new games off amazon since they offer video game credit but I don't see it this year for either BF3 or MW3... If not, I'll only pony up the cash for one of them (probably BF3)

OK, now this would make sense, and would give a credible explanation as to why the graphics were said to be better on the release version, since it technically has nothing to do with beta or not. I've decided to pick it up regardless, but I'll still hold my breath due to EA making a mess of most things they touch.

That said, if this ends up greatly enhancing the visuals like they say, EA/DICE should be ashamed for not letting people know of this upfront instead of enduring the public backlash since beta release. And if I ran the company, I would fire their entire PR department for it.

I just pre-ordered my copy for PS3. My co-worker also pre-ordered as well. I'm not as good at these games as I used to be (in a previous life I was hooked on Counter Strike for the PC), but the game looks great and we're looking forward to it.

I played Caspian border on PC all weekend and enjoyed it a lot more than the rush mode - felt more like the old days. Had some trouble getting my Cyborg X flight stick working properly (and gave up on it for now), but hoping everything works properly once the game comes out. Looks like the beta's over now.

After playing it for a few days, I'm pretty excited for it to release. The game play is a nice change of pace from COD.
