I'm going to go with the PC version here. It's a toss up between higher end visuals and tighter controls vs higher end audio and sofa comfort.

1600p vs 720p is just too much of a difference. Even going from 1080 to 1600 is effectively doubling the amount of pixels that are rendered. Since I can tell the difference between 50fps and 60fps, I definitely couldn't make do with 30. I've been spoiled by great pc gaming.

I might be wrong here, but doesn't our eyes have a really hard time seeing any improvement in PQ for anything above 720p (except for big screens)?

And I much rather deal with lower frame rate and lower resolution than playing on a small screen with no surround sound, and of course no nice couch.

People say different things, so there is no set FPS or resolution that we can see. I guess that makes sense since all of our eyes are different.

I agree with the console though. I'd rather play on a 108 in screen with 7.1 audio from my couch than huddled at my desk on a 22 in monitor with 3.1 audio and an uncomfortable desk chair.

I have the best of both worlds because whether I'm playing on the pc or on my tv, each location for me is just as enjoyable. If you're having to huddle at your desk then you're not doing something right. Make yourself comfortable. I have my big comfy chair for my pc, and still have 7.1 surround, as I have had for a number of years.

Sitting 2' from a 30" screen is essentially the same effect as sitting 10-12ft from a 100+ inch projection screen. So the experience I get from either location ends up being about the same.

So for me it is a no brainer. Since I have the pc to push this game to the limits, it's going to look much better. I'll be running a smooth 60fps with high Anti-Aliasing, Anisotropic Filtering, DX11, and tighter controls. I wouldn't want it any other way.

I get what you are saying, but our computer is the family computer. Yeah, its a quad core with 6 gigs of ram and a good video card, but that's because I'm a computer nerd. Our PC is basically for surfing the Internet when we are not near a laptop or for my wife to do the bills. Other than that, its rarely used for games.

I understand your point of view. It's different when you have to share the pc.

I'm not bashing either way of playing this game. Both PC and consoles will be a blast. I just want the most visual fidelity that I can get, so I have to choose pc on this particular game.

I'll be going the PC route as well, as I do with most of my first person games that require precision control.

For me, having the tighter controls and better graphics are paramount and that's why I do most of my gaming where those two are important on my PC. Something like Portal 2 or sports or racing games is cool sit back on the couch and play on the PS3 (and those account for all my PS3 games) but for serious games I'm a PC guy.

Is it expensive to keep a PC up to par in running the latest games? Sure, but what isn't expensive these days?

I actually just started Bad Company 2 on the PC last night and the graphics are far superior to the X360 copy my friend has, assuming your rig can run it.

On the topic of this game, BC2 is my first foray into the Battlefield games and I have to admit that I actually like it better than MW2.

If Battlefield 3 is anything like BF2 / 2142 -- ie. huge maps, planes, helicopters, tanks, etc. I'm going to love it. I tried playing BF : BC multiplayer on the PC and I just couldn't get into it - maybe b/c I don't quite understand what's going on or b/c I've gotten rusty on PC after playing COD all the time.

I pre-ordered both versions, but I'm hoping I like the PC one.

I think any of these guys who play on the xbox live with me know that I love BC2. It might be just because its new to me, though.

BF3 is going to be fun. I understand wanting to play from the couch and all. However, the gamepad is just soooo clunky compared to PC controls. Go pc if you have the motivation, and some don't, that's fine.

I built my pc on the fairly cheap. Got the 2500K cpu/mobo/ram for $500. PSu was $70 and I scored a Galaxy 480GTX Soc for $230. So under $900 and I can play any game easily at 2048X1536.

I cannot wait till this comes out. I played BF2 on the pc like it was my religion or something. I cannot wait to mod for this game on PC. I did sound mods and almost every kind of mod you can think of for that game. If you used a rangefinder, javelin, jetpack, and tons more mods that was me. I did not do the modeling but I did everything else. This looks like I wont need to mod it for some time though. Looks like what was missing in the first one is now in this version many times over. I wonder if you can still roll the chopper, jump out, and avoid a missle, then jump back in. I took so many planes out like that, lol. I wonder if my photobucket from back then is still alive. If so, I have some of the most excellent pics around for BF2. Will see if the account is still up and going and if so, and I can remember my pass from way back then I will post away some pics.
    Everything matters. That is all.
Money cannot buy happiness, but it sure can buy a bad **** boat to pull up along side it though.

BF3 is not going to be on steam btw. Seems like EA is pushing their origin (steam clone) pretty hard. Not having the game on steam will hurt sales.

Will it not be on Steam at all? I figured it just wasn't releasing on Steam.

Nope. EA claims its over an issue they have with Steam and they way they want to provide updates to their games... but let's face it, it seems like a cheap way to push their Origin service. Steam works very nicely, and EA should give up this Origin crap and just be happy making money hand over fist.

Preorded this the other day. Looking forward to this game more than anything else this year. That trailer looks absolutely sick. Wish the xbox version would look like that. Either way it will be great gameplay that will keep me from doing housework for hours on end.

Finally had time to start downloading the BETA. Will see how well it runs on dual 6970's stretched to 3 displays (Eyefinity).

It's not difficult to run, I have almost everything on full with a single 6870.

What resolution are you running? BC2 in 1920x1080 was easy for single 5870 but 5760x1080 was heavy for even dual 5870's. I will see in a little bit how BF3 BETA runs in 5760x1080, I hope it won't be choppy.

I've tried both betas - the 360 version is a little choppy compared to COD, but very playable. I'm running the PC version at 2048x1152 on Ultra w/ my GTX 580 and there's no hiccups aside from the game's bugs. I don't think it's that graphically demanding.

btw I'm PrazVT on PC and PrasVT on Live if you guys are playing...

Well I'll say this - there's way too much spawn killing, which annoys the crap out of me. Outside, it's tough run around b/c there are snipers everywhere ...a lot of run and dive and look around to see if any sniper is hiding lol. But like any game, you play it enough times and eventually you'll slowly get the hang of it. Plus for once I don't really give a crap about my k/d ratio - when I played the old BF2 / BF2142 games it was more about teamwork and I'd rather worry about resupplying / reviving teammates.

So that way I see the potential for this game to be really fun. I don't think I got a chance to play a map with vehicles though ... was that earlier in the beta phase?

Anyway ..right now I'm leaning towards the PC version more. If the final 360 version is smoother and they let me remap the controls ala COD, I could play it.

I played for a total of probably 10 min and couldn't get much into it. The problem is I'm playing by myself (and also I have no idea whats going on ;)). We should try to get a game going as I can tell this game is much more team based than COD.

Hey, I'm in whenever you want to play. I will try to be on tonight. Grim, Praz, Demi (if you can stomach it), you should all try to jump on too and we can see if we can play as an actual team as opposed to going lone wolf with a bunch of strangers.
