    yikes!

this movie appears to be in very poor taste. I understand it's just a spoof movie... but the timing is wrong.. and so is the subject. especially in todays times of unrest in the world.

I'd support a Disney boycott for sure.

Actor Phoenix explains, "I don't know why anyone would be offended. It wasn't a movie that was intended to offend. And if we don't show things as they really happen, then what's that about? Censorship!"

WTF does he know about how it really is in the military. People are people and being in the military does not make you immune to doing stupid stuff or mean that you aren't a criminal or sleaze ball but it also doesn't mean you are either just because you are in. I never saw anything like this when I was in. Sounds like a good movie to avoid.

Wasn't the way it was when I was in either. I can't wait to not go see this movie, just on personal principle alone.

    Demiurge,

I had to take a look at this post of yours and I will say that even though you and I haven't gotten along before, I have changed my mind about you. I agree with you about this movie and since you seem to believe in some of the same things I do, I have taken you off my Bozo filter list and commend your words and actions.....well done! **** Disney and the horse they rode in on.

I believe you are kinda taking the movie a tad "to" seriously. I believe it puts into perspective what goes on in the animal life. Life is Death. Death is Life. Basic facts of nature. Everyone on these boards will die one day. We all know that but yet reserve ourselfs to live each day to its fullest to enjoy our time here. However long or short it may be. I doubt any kid under 10 or above for that matter went up to their Mom and said, Mom, are you going to die????????
The movie had no real message, it just showed a love a Dad showed for his Son. It also showed the lengths of what can happen to a Father if he looses his wife and child. He may become over protective and possibly go insane. But the movie showed you still outta let your child explore life how it should be explored. To the person's intentions, their choices.
But to look at it in a scientific manner, it just basically shows the food chain. I mean it is sad, but the weakest link dies. The bottum of the food chain it the bottum. I am sure if we were the weaker species and there was something above us, that was bigger, faster, stronger, and ate us like we eat cows. I am sure if it showed something eat us that wasnt them they wouldnt really care.
Its a sad thing, but I think you are taking the message that isnt there, and making an acusation. IMO. I saw the movie, I laughed, I enjoyed it, it was sad. it was a little bit of everything. I doubt any child thought their mother was going to die the next day.

Ok i love this subject!! The king on controversy (sp) Me,

I'm tired of people picking on movies and cartoons, (note, the above movie looks to be uncalled for in original post)

1.teletubbies are ****, little mermaid, the king had a boner, lion king said sex in the dust, on and on, Listen people Little kids watch these movies, Im in a great position to stand up and say something, I have a just turned 1 daughter who loves, i mean laughs and loves The teletubbies, i have a 4 1/2 year old daughter who loves disney movies, She watched finding nemo and every other disney release since she's been old enough to watch movies and she has NEVER been scared, or said anything to what adults have claimed in these movies.. ya know why??? becuase she's a kid, she doesnt know what **** is, she doesnt know what political agenda's are, she doesnt know what hidden messages disney supposedly puts in the movies and no other 1-6 year old and older kid does.. Its all the parents or people who don't even have kids that make stupid comments.

and yes i said stupid, me and you can think something about what we "THINK " we see, but until my kids see it it doesnt matter.. Its for them to watch not me, So let the darn kids watch their shows and stop over analizing them,

Well I don't have any children.. but I do sometimes rent movies aimed for children.. which I enjoy if they are good movies to begin with.

I find that adults are the ones who imagine that Tinky Winky is/was ****.. and so was Scar in the Lion King, on and on and on.

Kids just see the movie for what it is.. entertainment for 90 mins. How many of you with children.... have they ever asked you if the teletubbies were ****? None I would think. Children are much brigher and smarter than I was when I was their age.. that's a fact. They are exposed to things much earlier than we ever were.. but children are still children.. and although they have good imaginations.. i highly doubt.. that any of them care or ever think that some of their cartoon characters are **** or whatever.

First Demi, I wasnt commenting because anything you said... Just about Disney in general, we A-Ok bud,

    BUT, and i say BUT......

READ what we just said, who cares what Disney's agenda is, KIDS don't know it, and 15,16 year olds that may understand the "so called message" arent most likely watching alot of the Disney stuff, and again, Kids don't look at stuff like We the Adults do, and for the most part and majorority of the movies in question are ones that a 1-6 year old would be watching, Yes kids are smarter these days but not to world issues and sexual orientation, It just doesnt matter to them, It really does make a difference if you have kids and to watch first hand how they act and react to these movies. I have been around my sisters kids since i was a teen, and now have my own 2 kids so i have some what of a case study watching lots of disney and kid type movies, we also have about 100 disney and kiddie vhs tapes we collected before the big DVD thing. and now have started a dvd kids movie collection, Adults that always look and search and seek out this stuff will always find it.......

...and they still refuse to put Song of the South on DVD

man running a profitable drugs and stolen goods business out of an Army base!
    What, like this never happens?
The film's director Gregor Jordan describes SOLDIERS as a robust satire illustrating the corruption, drug use and violence that goes on in US Army bases.
    Which I'm sure it does.
excessive amount of profanity by senior officers, suggestive sex [oral sex in bed, sex in a car, sex in a swimming pool], theft of government property, and rampant drug use by soldiers.
Sounds like Platoon, Full Metal Jacket...etc. Something just about evey military movie has contained at one time or another.

I really don't see any problem with the film. Especially from reading some online personal opinion. I'll see the movie first, then judge it.

    Peace Out~:D

Kids may be unaware of what is going on in movies when subtle messages are used but that does not lessen the significance of the message being there. Kids do absorb over time what is implied as they tend to watch the same movie many, many times. As a parent it is my responsibility to ensure that the message they are getting is one that I want them to have and if not then they don't watch it. I am very flexible in what I allow my kids to watch and I watch it with them at least once but I also make sure they know what is morally acceptable in our home. I can't think of any kids movies that they have wanted to see that I have said no to but I am sure there may be some. Too many parents use the TV/VCR/DVD player to raise their kids and then wonder why they grow up and can't function in society. I say this as a father of 4. You are fooling yourself if you think that your kids don't learn and pattern their behavior off of what they see in movies and on TV. By the way we have many Disney videos in our house.

my problem with the movie in question is Phoenix saying the movie portrays the way the military is......it is not.

Watch the movie or don't watch the movie. That is your choice.
