Faster - You may look into some sort of isolation for your CD player. Or you could just look into your mail box in a few days.:D

Mx - Good question. I know it is a tri-laminate, but laminate of what? There may be more info in Polk's home page.

Looks like my reply read wrong or something.......Sorry for the mis direct.

I was reading though the thead and was commenting on what I read.......
You guys are all playing around with the way the speakers are wired .......project was to tame down the harshness of the tri Lam Tweeter.......as Danger Boy put it,case closed.

    Cool

The thead continued after that, which is also cool.
    Would everyone relax???

    danger boy,
Actually this thead was Intresting.I assume you didn't read my first reply to your thead. As I went though the same thing you did.I felt my RT system as 2 harsh,Bright,Fatiguing........I ended up getting rid of it along with other things and revamped my system.
I asked the question is that was an option as you brought it up anyway. You replaced everything else to correct a problem that wouldn't go away......Again I did the same thing....
I know you fixed your problem with what you did with your wiring.I say if it works who cares if it's technically correct.
I'm also glad you found a cheap fix......I however didn't.

    faster100,
    Relax would yeah......
Can I ask why your so touchy?Gee

    ATC,
my comments about you .........Mikey and all is the fact that you owned alot of nice gear and didn't like any of it.You constantly tell me how much it all sucks......so be it dude.Your not happy with your rigs........get a better job abd do something about it...I know thats difficult thing to do ,but in time you'll have a pleasing system.....waiting is the hard part. What else do you want me to say??????
And it doesn't matter what you like or dislike.Lsi Rotel RT B&W MF it's your gear not mine......

    Tour2ma,
keep having it...it's what this hobby is all about.
In the back of my mind is the fact I had the same exact problem.....by reading it seems WE where not alone here.

    Vr3MxStyler2k3,
    Whatever...........

    HERES THE DEAL.............
I know speakers are difficult and very personal.Wanting to fix what you own is perfectly fine.Wanting to try other speakers is also a solution. They could be other polk speakers or there could be another brand out there thats to your liking.........who knows.

I'll let you guys continue without any of my input as none of you want me here anyway....I know when I'm not wanted......it's cool.

To answer Sid's question...if I remember correctly the tri-lam is really a soft dome, silk I think, that has been essentially sprayed with three different types of metals. That's off the cuff so cut me some slack on the details. The theory, I believe is that it retains most of the smoothness of silk with improved detail.

    Aluminum, Magnesium, and Titanium.

Maybe some people need to go out, demo, and find some 'softer' speakers? Just a thought.

I still want to know if anyone ever tried putting the Vifa's in the Rt's ...I prefer the midrange of the Rt and the Tweeter of the Lsi's......I think that would be the best of both worlds.

Ok, I talked with Pete at MIT today to find out if I could reinstall the jumper straps on my Polk's without damaging the network boxes on my MIT bi-wires. He told me yes, no problem. He also told me of a trick that recording studios use to tame sibilance. Take some tissue paper and tape it over the tweeter(s). He also mentioned that there is a company that sells kits for this purpose made out of rice paper, but to just try the tissue first. Well, first I try to reinstall the jumpers, but they don't fit anymore because I changed the binding posts, so I then try the tissue trick. Guess what, it works. The sibilance got better, not gone entirely on the worst recordings, but better. I'll make up some new jumpers anyway, because I want to see what that will do. I'll post back after I've done that.

I would really like to try the Vifa tweeter from the LSi in my Polk RT2000p's but I don't want to spend the money if they arn't going to work. And I don't want to damage the speakers if the crossover is set differently or something. Also what ohm load will I get?

I have been thinking of taking the tweeter from my LSiC and testing it with the 2000's. I don't want to damage it, but if it works it could be very nice. Also how does the volume of that tweeter compare with the rest of the 2000?
